Different Names On Passport/CNIC and Academic Documents

So I was looking to apply to get enrolled in a German University soon, but the thing that's been bothering me is that my name on my CNIC and Passport doesn't match my name on my academic documents and degrees. Like, my name on my passport and cnic is 'Hasan Aamir' while all of my degrees and mark sheets from Matric till my Masters say 'Muhammad Hasan Bin Aamir'.

Is this going to cause problems for me in the process of applying? Or is it not that big of a deal? What can I do to if it is?

Thanks!

Usually it is a problem. I will let people more experienced with German uni's answer (@nanow), however, I'm fairly confident it'll give you problems.

One possible solution is that you can get your name changed on your NIC and Passport. I believe the procedure for that involves getting it published in a newspaper or something but it's possible and doable, and, I suppose, an easier fix than getting it changed on all your documents.

Nonetheless, lets see what the others have to say too.

As Abby said it is usually a problem, especially when applying abroad. Both Universities and Embassies can defer you for that or at least make a major issue out of it. I've seen attestation people creating issues due to different names, it won't be surprising if foreign people do to.

Getting your name changed on your CNIC/Passport would be the best and easiest for you.

What others have said, it is a problem usually. NaNoW might know more about german Unis.

And what AbbY said the procedure involves something to do your name getting published and it has something to do with courts I guess because you have to claim infront witnesses that I am changing my name, something of the sort.
My friend recently went through the same trouble so he did this. I can ask him the whole procedure if you want.

Yes it will create problems.

Changing name on CNIC is fairly easy as compared to changing in your educational documents (its a long and tedious process involving courts to acquire a decree). But on the basis of your educational documents (Matric certificate), your name can be changed in Nadra database.

Please do. Does it actually count as a change of name tho? My first and last name will still be Hasan Aamir, it's just the addition of Muhammad and Bin which is so stupid. I don't even know how it happened.

@prohyper @Khawaja @AbbY
I read somewhere that they usually only care about last names so in that case I might be good to go. I also read that one can get an Affidavit made to notify that both names belong to the same person, is that a possibility?

@NaNoW
Bro, would you know anything?

the thing with this kinda stuff is that its not a big thing - until it is or it becomes, and then at that time people start to rush and you are then dependent on timeframes and efficiency of govt. offices and unis and other places - which you shouldnt...

I think getting your name changed and amended on passport and CNIC is now easier and much better - heck you can do the passport application completely online - it is 2 days of khuwari but peace of mind for a long term..I would say just get a new cnic and passport with name corrected (y)

I asked my friend and he told me that you only have to go to Nadra. Court gets involved when you want to change your father's name as well.
Take B.Form, old nic and other documents such as matric certificate. If there is anyother thing involved Nadra will inform you.

Ok! Can you ask him that if my B. Form/Birth Certificate also states my name as 'Hasan Aamir', will they deny my request?

I also heard that Nadra don't have any problem in changing your name, according to your matric certificate. Database will be updated so B.Form included, not sure about birth certificate haven't made any myself (aren't they made from UC).

Oh. I read somewhere here and heard in person too that you had to advertise your name change or something of that sort... Guess it was just hearsay

Thanks!
only ur educational certificates (even matric certificate only) will get the job done easily... just visit nearest NADRA centre and modify ur own name in ur CNIC as per educational certificate(s)... (original and photocopy of documents would need)... ur CNIC will be surrendered.. !

after receiving of ur CNIC, u'll have to modify ur passport as per CNIC name... !

Best Regards.. !

    You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
