Difference bw Original & Refurb

Hey Guyz. need ur help.
Ryt now HTC and other Brands have alot of refurb ph in the market.
i need ur advice and Expertise how to distinguish bw orig and refurb.
here is one little example i saw in HTc.
HTC Wildfire S = 12000 Org , 8500 Refurb.
thats the amount difference. but how to know frm Phone.

There is a red sticked on it from the company when you open its cover dont remember what actually is written on it. I had a refurbished HTC Desire HD

but as i heard that it dont get update or Difference in Software version ?

[MENTION=13193]devildx[/MENTION] take a expert with you who knows the difference between opened and sealed set. If there is no sticker it will cost even less because then its repaired by a local technician not by the company:wink2:.

i can realize the difference bw Sealed or Unsealed.. but the thing is i differentiating bw refurb and Org is little bit hard.
also can u let me know the Kernel Version of ur Desire Hd . as u says its Refurb..

Well, Refurbished sets does not have Protective SEAL on its screws. and Casing would a little loose. Buttons are bit hard.

There is a easier method for recognizing a Wildfire S is by Installing Custom Recover on it. If it does not work it means it is ORIGINAL WFS12. if it does its probably refurbished i'll explain it below!

WFS12 : Manufactured in late 2012 most of them are Original not refurb, also they contain new kernel and 2.3.5 gingerbread instead of 2.3.3, and Custom Recovery which works fine on older WFS models wont work on WFS12 cause it requires a specific version of CWM/TWP. also CM based rom does not work on WFS12 like they do on other WFS, it requires a kernel to flash after the rom to make it work!

WFS11 : Manufactured somewhere between 2011, Comes with 2.3.3 gingerbread and older kernel which makes any recovery or any custom firmware to work with it. Without the need of any special kernel or specific version of CWM.

There is one other way.

Ask the shop owner to boot the phone in fastboot and check if its S-ON or S-OFF. . S-OFF are mostly refurbished, and S-ON are mostly ORIGINAL.

Yeah most of them would mind flashing CWM but no one would mind booting it in fastboot.. So one can check it through fastboot.

Power off the phone.
Hold the power button + volume (up or down I don't remember)
Until it reaches fastboot mode.

Yeah to get into fastboot..

Turn off the device
Hold Volume Down and Power button Untill it reaches fastboot
And Voila !!

Actually refurbish is the original branded phone but its used phone, you can distinguish by its screen protector, if it has an orignal one with no air balloons on it, it isn't a refurbish one.

There is major different that you can figure out.

Original Phones doesnt come with a Screen Protector in the first place, they just come with protective coating which is a thin piece of plastic.
