Detective Films/Shows You Should Know

Well, I've been watching/reading a lot of detective fiction this year. Always been an avid fan of mystery-solving dramas and it amazes me to this day how much muted it goes. I mean, yes people know Shutter Island, The Silence of the Lambs and Memento, but I believe there's a lot that people are missing on. Just for the sake of it, I've decided to share a list of my favourite detective dramas over the years. Hell I want everyone to know about these masterpieces.

Note: There won't be popular releases posted here (at least in my list). I'll do movies and tv shows together here. THIS IS MY OPINION.

Let's start

The Chaser

The superior better version of I Saw The Devil. It's older, has better characters and is far more original. And yeah, it's one of the best psychopathic cases based around true story. It will shock you in unbelievable ways.

Mr. Brooks

Mr. Brooks is just a great watch. It unfolds itself into a mess and it's all over the place with twists. Great flick, especially if you're in the mood for rivaled suspense.

Broadchurch

This started this year but it has all the elements to be a great crime-solving detective drama. Whodunit fanatics will be pleased from this.

Confessions

The most mind-blowing thriller you'll remember for a long time. Outstanding cinematography too, so don't miss it out.

The Secret In Their Eyes

The first great classic I found on my own. Superb storytelling till the end. If you're craving old-school suspense noir, this is definitely it.

The Red Riding Trilogy

Dark case-drama filled with lots of memorable segments. Extremely immersive and hooks you on every frame. The cast performance is just grandly put together and it's almost a theater viewing in form of a tv show. Based BBC detective drama forever.

Brick

I still claim that this is Joseph Gordon-Levitt's best work. In addition, this film is what I would call contemporary detective drama. It's set in an abstrat, weird way, but nails on every mood it brings. I really love this film to bits. It feels like a good blend of old and new put together. Plus the smart dialouge is just Banderas.gif worthy.

Memories of Murder

Undoubtedly the best detective film I've seen so far. Nothing tops it. Everything in this genius story is done with tremendous exceptional filmmaking. It's a living form of itself. Some of the scenes are just forever planted in my head, just too awesome to forget.

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
