[h=2]Destiny beta goes offline for two days[/h]


The Destiny beta for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 will be offline today and tomorrow, developer Bungie said this morning on Twitter. The beta will return Wednesday, when it will also launch on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.



Bungie launched the beta on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 last Thursday, July 17. Today and tomorrow, July 21-22, the beta will be down for maintenance as the studio prepares its servers for two new platforms. Bungie will bring the Destiny beta back to PS3 and PS4 at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 23, and will simultaneously launch it on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.


From then, people on all four platforms will be able to play straight through to the end of the beta, which is set for 2:59 a.m. ET on Monday, July 28. A special event, the Beta Rally, will begin at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 26, with all players present at that time set to receive a exclusive emblem from the beta that they can bring with them into the retail game. While Destiny does not support cross-platform play, Bungie confirmed last week that players can maintain their characters across PS3 and PS4 as well as Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Nothing wrong with the game, it looks fantastic, it sounds fantastic, some really cool online mechanics, lots of game modes and it can be pretty addictive, excellent value for money...I mean I can't really check any cons for this game (except for jarring frame drops but that's probably 'cos it's beta) but this just isn't something for me.

I'll go more in depth with my analysis to identify why I wasn't as thrilled as some others here but I think Destiny is one of the best things that can happen in the industry right now. I mean, take cues from this and then mix it with games like Mass Effect, we can only imagine what's gonna happen.

Dude, I game more than you. I just Halo less.

Seriously though, Destiny is the kind of online I can play easily. My time with Beta was a test for me in that way too lol. It's just that if someone's had a problem with Halo's gameplay, he'll have a harder time loving Destiny.

But then you had no issues with Halo: Reach lol. And it's not like Destiny's a 1:1 copy of Halo. I'm pretty sure if you didn't know Bungie was behind Halo and Destiny, and had played both, you'd probably not have drawn the similarity as quickly as you have.

I'm confused about the vanguard system in the game. How does it work? And why am not getting vanguard points in the beta?

I never said I had "no" issues with Halo Reach. I just found it to be the best in the series.
And dude, anyone can pick out the Halo in Destiny easily. It's evolved and different but you can easily get Halo deja vus.

Heck you'd be much slower to love Destiny if hadn't so much of Halo's DNA in it and if Bungie wasn't behind it.

PS4 version? If so, that's actually a frame pacing issue, which results in judder during camera movement. The frame rate itself is a steady 30fps.

The issue is said to have already been resolved for the final release, and the beta may also get a patch that fixes it.

After redeeming code, go to Games and Apps. Scroll all the way to the right. It will be under "Ready to download" list.

For the first 2%, the game will only download a client. After that you'll get a prompt that the game is ready to run. When you run the game, the actual 11GB download will begin. Do not close the game or the download will be paused.

srsly? thats pretty stupid considering the console has state of the art background auto downloading. damn now il have to wait till i get home i hope the game can be downloaded in standby mode

^ I'm not sure about auto-downloading. This is just how I did it. Maybe it does download automatically, but still you'll need to execute the game after 2% since the actual download begins after that.

[h=2]Destiny beta returns a day early, now available for Xbox players[/h]


Destiny's maintenance period is over and the game's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 beta is back online a day earlier than expected, Bungie announced on its official website.
The beta is also now available for Xbox 360 and Xbox One players. Codes were sent out earlier today.





"We know you've been waiting, so we busted our asses to finish our chores up early," the post reads. "You can download and play the beta right now. This is a great moment for the entire Bungie community to share in this adventure, and we couldn't be more excited. Get in there. Break it. Tell us what you think. Share your experiences online.


The beta went offline yesterday afternoon, following its launch last week; it was expected to return sometime on July 23 with the beta launch for Xbox 360 and Xbox One players as well.


The beta will run until July 28 for all players.
