[h=2]Surprise, surprise[/h]

Destiny The Game/Twitter Destiny 2 is the title of the first full sequel to Destiny, developer Bungie and publisher Activision announced today.
The news came by way of Destiny’s official Twitter account, which simply posted an image of the sequel’s logo.

— Destiny The Game (@DestinyTheGame) March 27, 2017
The logo, with a numeral two in Helvetica behind the word “Destiny,” is the same one that appeared on a promotional poster for the game that was leaked last week by an Italian retailer. That poster mentioned a release date of Sept. 8, 2017, as well as a beta that would apparently be available first on PlayStation 4. However, Bungie and Activision have yet to confirm those details, or any platforms; for now, the publisher has only said that Destiny 2 will be released this fall.
Destiny 2 will arrive three years after the original Destiny, which launched Sept. 9, 2014, on PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Bungie released four expansions for the game: The Dark Below in December 2014, House of Wolves in May 2015, The Taken King in September 2015 and Rise of Iron in September 2016.

The studio has been supplementing those paid add-ons with semi-regular content updates that are free for players who own the most recent expansion. Destiny’s final major content update, Age of Triumph, will be released tomorrow.
Update: As Twitter user Nibel points out, The Last City — the metropolis that was saved by the Traveler, and the location of the Tower in the original Destiny — is burning in the background of the Destiny 2 logo. Nibel compares artwork for the two games in this explosive GIF:
"What happened to the Last City in that Destiny 2 teaser image??"

The PC version of Destiny 2 appears to be on par with its console counterparts. Bungie’s official website lists a digital deluxe edition, collector’s edition, limited edition and standard edition for the game on PC. Destiny 2 will feature two expansion packs. Players on PC will also be able to take part in the Destiny 2 beta if they pre-order the game.

Most probably Windows Store exclusive, and therefore everyone should wait for reviews before taking a plunge.

Naw, I don't see anyone but MS first party opting to stay exclusive to the Windows Store. Even those games eventually come out on Steam.

You're right, its Activision so theres a chance for Steam release.
And no, ReCore, Gears 4, Forza aren't gonna be on Steam. Quantum Break was an exception due to Remedy's history on PC.

MS is open to bring halowars 2 on steam.

I hope it's an Xbox play anyware title and support cross platform play. Although that's highly unlikely since this is a fps but it happened with gears4.

Well from what I know abt bungie's tactics, I'd say Destiny was an experiment and whatever the result of that experiment will shape the sequel. Destiny 2 is the proper current gen title by this dev and will probably be drastically overhauled. First sign is the fact that it's coming on PC now which opens up major avenues from technical and gameplay prospectives. Story/ lore will be properly explored too.
Once again I do hope it's a play anywhere title. There is so much potential for awesomeness if it is.

Dont have any idea about Destiny's shortcomings but developing for current gen platforms and after several expansions they should be able to deliver the best Destiny experience yet.

For PC, avoid Windows Store, put it on Steam, optimise it well and fine tune it for mouse controls. Cautiously optimistic about this one.

The PS4/XB1 versions were also 30 FPS owing to last-gen code. Let's see if they up it to 60 FPS. Bungie has not made a single 60 FPS console FPS so far though, so it just might be the developer's choice.

I hope this statement in no way hints that Bungie could lock the PC version to 30FPS. They aren't THAT stupid now are they? :p

No, PC frame rate locks will probably be circumvented by mods, console versions would be interesting to see.

The Land Down Under
Destiny does a lot of things right. Specially if you're a clan or a group then the co-op fun is equal to none. When you talk about value in terms of hours spent per dollar, Destiny delivers immense value even with its crappiest DLCs.

The problem is, when we discuss Destiny, it becomes a love it hate it affair. Those who love it wouldn't want to hear anything about it and those who don't treat it like shit. I think Destiny is absolutely phenomenal. But what frustrates me is that it has so much potential to be much much more. I love the Bungie in it, and I despise the Activision in it.

I mean to say, Bungie has the potential to do so much more with its DLCs and stories and quirky mechanics that hinder a near perfect execution of a console shooter. The core game is excellent enough to pour hundreds of hours in it. Activision exploits that with DLCs that don't really add much except bill you for the hours you put in it which you might put in even in the absence of the 'DLC' which is just a glorified 'patch' in Destiny's case. The Taken King is the sole exception and was definitely worthy of the title of a DLC. But then again, it was priced accordingly.

I just hope Bungie doesn't miss an opportunity to tell a brilliant story with the amazing characters already in and so many plot points still hanging. I can bet on the fact that the gameplay would be rock solid with amazing art and beautiful sound design.

As someone mentioned, cautiously optimistic is what best describes my position. I will definitely buy it though. But I so hope they have matchmaking for all modes. That's one of the key factors that drove me away.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
