[h=1]Bungie bringing original Destiny’s Iron Banner to Destiny 2[/h]

[h=2]Just like the good ol’ days[/h]

Destiny 2’s semi-regular Iron Banner event is going “old-school” this spring — the game’s next major update will make it so that Iron Banner matches work similarly to the way they did in the original Destiny, developer Bungie announced today.
Bungie previously said that it was working on six-versus-six Crucible matches for Destiny 2, after launching the game with a reduced player count of four-versus-four. Today, the studio provided more details on the revisions to Iron Banner that it is building into Destiny 2’s version 1.1.4 update, which is scheduled to be released March 27.
“Iron Banner will channel that old-school Crucible in the style of the Iron Lords,” said PvP design lead Derek Carroll. “We’ve made a number of tweaks to the gameplay besides increasing team sizes to 6v6.” Here’s the full list from Bungie:

  • Match time limit is 12 minutes
  • Score limit is 125 points
  • Respawn time is 7 seconds
  • All control zones start off neutral
  • Control zones take slightly longer to capture by default
  • Additional Guardians (max of 3) in a zone increases capture speed
  • Guardians participating in a capture get more Super energy
To be clear, the defining element of the Iron Banner in the original Destiny — the fact that level advantages were enabled, so Guardians with a high Light level would do more damage to less powerful opponents — is not coming to Destiny 2’s Iron Banner. But some of these other tweaks bring the event much closer to its previous iteration.

Iron Banner often plays out with the Control gametype, in which players compete for possession of three zones on the map. “All control zones start off neutral” is the way Control worked in Destiny; Control matches in the sequel begin with each team owning either zone A or zone C, with only zone B up for grabs. And in Destiny 2, it doesn’t matter how many teammates stand in a zone — they won’t take control of it any faster than they would if there were just one of them capturing it. But in the first game, the capture meter filled up more quickly with multiple Guardians in the area.
Because Iron Banner isn’t always active — the event takes place about once a month — this strategy allows Bungie to try out these changes in Destiny 2 on a limited basis. It’s almost as if the studio is using Iron Banner as a trial run to see how the tweaks work, perhaps with an eye on expanding the changes to other Crucible playlists in the future.
Bungie is also bringing two other Crucible offerings from the original Destiny to Destiny 2with the v1.1.4 update. Rumble will support eight players, up from six in the first game, and will feature very simple scoring: one point per kill, no points for assists. Mayhem is returning unchanged. Doubles, the two-on-two mode from the Valentine’s Day event known as Crimson Days, is coming at some point as well.
Outside of the Crucible, Bungie addressed some new bugs that cropped up with this week’s v1.1.3 update, as well as a pesky Leviathan issue that has existed ever since the raid launched in September. Sometimes, for no apparent reason, players will find that their fireteam doesn’t respawn, and Bungie explained today why it hasn’t been able to fix the problem just yet.

John Guesnier, raid test lead at Bungie, laid out two different types of solutions for bugs: a “content fix” and a “code fix.” The latter option is more challenging and time-intensive because it needs an engineer and “touches all systems” in the game, according to Guesnier. “The issue where players do not respawn in the ‘Leviathan’ raid is a memory issue due to the size and complexity of the activity, and it will require a code fix,” said Guesnier. “It is caused when a fireteam splits up across large distances while others remain back and swap out their gear.”
Guesnier noted that Bungie is still trying to figure out how to fix this problem, and suggested that, in the meantime, players do their best to avoid straying too far from each other.
“We realize that this is not an acceptable fix, but we wanted to give you info on how you can try to mitigate the issue while we work on it,” Guesnier continued. “If you do happen to hit this issue even following those steps, then reequipping the armor set you had when you spawned into the activity may return your Guardian to action.”

[h=1]Here’s what’s coming in Destiny 2’s Warmind expansion[/h]

[h=2]Players will have a lot more to do[/h]

In today’s Twitch reveal stream for Destiny 2: Warmind, the second expansion for Destiny 2, Bungie confirmed that players will be returning to Mars in this add-on. But this time, they’ll be exploring the planet’s thawing ice caps, not its red deserts. The Warmind Rasputin has awoken, and awaits players on the red planet. You will fight alongside Ana Bray and take on a formerly frozen Hive army known as the Grasp of Nokris in order to reach Rasputin’s core.
Warmind also brings quite a few updates to PvP, offering ranked modes for competitive (Glory) and casual (Valor) play. This new Crucible setup offers a real leveling experience for players in either mode. However, the competitive playlist will see you move up and down the ladder as you succeed or fail. Finally, each season will have a PvP-exclusive gun for players to chase after.
Inside the new Hellas Basin, the landing zone for Mars, players will be able to take on a brand-new type of public event. But unlike previous events, this one is triggered by players whenever they want, similar to Court of Oryx in Destiny: The Taken King. In this new event, called Escalation Protocol, groups of Guardians on Patrol will face off against seven waves of Grasp of Nokris Hive, each more difficult than the last. On the seventh wave, players will face down one of five unique bosses that will rotate each week.
In terms of rewards, Bungie made it clear that Escalation Protocol has its own, exclusive armor set and weapons. Each weekly boss will also offer unique loot, meaning that you may have to wait a full five weeks between opportunities. Normal Public Event rewards will drop after waves three and five, but the real rewards hit after the final boss and wave seven. You can see six screenshots of Escalation Protocol below.

Bungie has also been teasing a few much-needed exotic buffs for Destiny 2 weapons over the past few weeks, and the studio finally showed off a bit more in the reveal stream today. In addition to the updates we’ve already seen for Sturm/Drang, Graviton Lance, Skyburner’s Oath and Rat King, the team showed off improvements to Fighting Lion, Riskrunner, Crimson and Hard Light.
The design team tweaked almost every exotic for Warmind, according to Bungie, leaving only a handful of items in their current state. And in case you missed it in the teaser video yesterday, the beloved Suros Regime will return from Destiny.
Warmind will also include two new strikes, Strange Terrain and Will of the Thousands, and an exclusive one for PS4 players called The Insight Terminus. The second raid lair for the Leviathan raid is called Spire of Stars, and will likely launch shortly after Warmind, assuming Bungie continues with its raid release strategy. The prestige version of Eater of Worlds, the raid lair from Curse of Osiris, will also arrive alongside Destiny 2 season three and Warmind.

The new emote wheel on the D-pad will be available to all Destiny 2 players when Warmindlaunches. Bungie/TwitchFinally, Bungie showed off a much-requested cosmetic change for Destiny 2: Players will now be able to customize their own emote wheel in the menu. Now you can map your fancy exotic emotes to the four directions of the D-pad.
Destiny 2: Warmind, which is being developed jointly by Bungie and Vicarious Visions, launches May 8 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. You can check out 15 screenshots from its new campaign in the gallery below.

[h=1]Here, have Destiny 2 for $12[/h]
[h=2]Humble Monthly has a wild deal this week, just in time for the game’s next expansion[/h]
Since 2015, Humble Bundle has offered a monthly loot crate of sorts, full to the brim with around $100 worth of games. But it’s never had an offer quite like this. If you hand over $12 to sign up for June’s collection, you’ll receive a code for Destiny 2,among other offerings. The offer arrives just in time for anyone interested in the game’s next expansion,Warmind, which launches May 8.
Humble made a name for itself with its storefront, which offers collections of games at pay-what-you-want prices with a portion of the proceeds going to charity. Customers can always pay more than the average price to unlock bonus games.

Humble Monthly utilizes that same, deep collection of excellent titles drawn from independent studios and AAA developers alike. April’s Humble Monthly included Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Mafia 3and Laser League, among others, while May’s subscribers will get Dead Rising 4 and Kerbal Space Program.
If you’re a PC player on a budget, it’s hard to find a better deal.
Nearly every game is offered up as a digital code, archived at the Humble website under your account. Keeping with its charitable roots, 5 percent of each month’s proceeds support charity. Subscribers also get 10 percent off all other items in the Humble Store.
This is the first time that Destiny 2 has been included in the subscription. Humble Monthly will allow you to cancel your subscription at any time, but your account — and the keys you own — will always be there.

[h=1]Bungie Is Interested In Destiny 2 Crossplay - And So Is Microsoft[/h]

Not only is Destiny 2 developer Bungie interested in offering crossplay with its title, but Microsoft also shows some interest in crossplay. That means players might soon get the opportunity to crossplay with other Destiny 2 players across a wide variety of platforms.
Destiny 2, an online multiplayer first-person shooter, released to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2017. A PC version of the game followed one month later. The title takes players to a large shared world set in the future as they take on the role of Light-powered Guardians to protect the last safe city on Earth from alien threats. In the follow-up game to Destiny, one alien race has taken over the Last City and has removed the Guardians' Light powers. The goal of the game is to take back the city and restore Light. The first expansion for the game, Forsaken, arrives in September.

In a Q&A session with Game Informer, Forsaken lead developers Steve Cotton and Scott Taylor answered a question about the potential for crossplay in Destiny 2. Taylor said, "Yeah, we talk about it. No plans or anything to announce for Forsaken, but yeah, it's something we talk about." The most important takeaway here is that there are no plans on including crossplay with the Forsaken expansion, but that there is definitely an interest in making it happen for Destiny 2. Not only are Bungie interested in making that happen, but Xbox President Mike Ybarra tweeted that he would love to see the game get crossplay. In a poll that he posted, 87 percent of respondents agreed.

Destiny 2 crossplay means that players on one platform could play with their friends on other platforms. However, considering Sony's holdout in offering crossplay on its system for titles such as Fortnite and Fallout 76, it seems that players on PlayStation 4 might still get left out in the cold. The company is obviously not worried about losing players, not when it has sold over 80 million PlayStation 4 units in the lifetime of the console. For Sony, it makes sense to keep its multiplayer gamers on that console.
Regardless of Sony's position, though, Destiny 2 players would probably love the chance to have crossplay as part of their experience. For now, they finally get a new expansion for the game, that should keep them entertained enough to stick around, even with Bungie charging ridiculous amounts of money for additional content.

[h=1]Meet the Scorn, Destiny 2: Forsaken’s new enemy faction[/h]

[h=2]These foes are more fleshed out than the Taken[/h]
In Destiny 2: Forsaken, players will come up against the Scorn, a deadly group of mutated Fallen. While these beasts may look like the familiar enemies from Destiny, they behave very differently in all of their new forms. Game Informer’s cover story goes into detail on each of the new faction’s enemy types.
Unlike the Taken, the Scorn aren’t simply reskinned versions of existing enemies with eerily similar abilities. The Scorn not only look different, they play differently as well. In the first ViDoc for Destiny 2: Forsaken, Matt Tieger, game director at co-developer High Moon Studios, describes the Scorn as extremely aggressive and ready to push you harder than any enemy before.
The Scorn aren’t just aggressive, they’re reckless. Rather than take cover like many of the other enemies in Destiny, the Scorn will push until one of you is dead. This plays a bit into each of the new enemy archetypes we learn about in the cover story.

[h=3]MONGRELS[/h]These are the big boys of the Scorn’s crew. Like the Hive’s Ogres, they’re massive hulks that roam each arena, ready to smash anything that gets too close. As if their size weren’t bad enough, the Mongrels are also imbued with lightning that they can fire at unsuspecting Guardians.
[h=3]SCREEB[/h]The Screeb are probably the most familiar enemies of the Scorn. They’re deformed and mutated creatures that are reminiscent of the Hive’s Cursed Thralls. But where the Cursed Thralls shamble, hoping to get close enough to begin their sprint, the Screeb are always running at players at full speed, ready to explode.
[h=3]RAIDERS[/h]These seem to be the most common kinds of Scorn, the Dregs of this universe. Raiders have the ability to teleport around the battlefield. To make them a bit more formidable, they can also launch void buzzsaws at players from afar.
[h=3]LURKERS[/h]Considering how aggressive the Scorn are, the Lurkers are the most counterintuitive enemies in the bunch. They hold tiny shields that they use to block incoming fire. Like all shielded enemies in Destiny, they have a weak spot lurking somewhere behind their shield. Players will just need to find a way to get to it.
[h=3]RAVAGERS[/h]These enemies are melee-focused and carry flaming flails into each and every fight. If they reach players, they’ll do considerable damage with their weapon. But carrying around an explosive comes with a price. If players can manage to destroy their weapon, the Ravagers will go up in flames with it.
[h=3]CHIEFTAINS[/h]Chieftains are the final new enemy type being added in Destiny 2: Forsaken. They seem to take the place of Fallen Captains, leading the Scorn to each one of their inevitable defeats at the hands of Guardians.
But unlike their un-mutated brethren, the Chieftains don’t do their own fighting. Instead, they rely on elemental totems to tear Guardians down. The solar totem acts as a turret, the void totem shields Scorn allies and the arc totem creates a vortex that pulls players toward it.
Destiny 2: Forsaken will be released for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One on Sept. 4.

[h=1]Destiny 2: Forsaken weapons and armor dropping early for some players[/h]

[h=2]Get these guns while you can[/h]

Destiny 2’s first major expansion, Forsaken, launches in under a week. But as of the 2.0 pre-patch update, some players are getting exclusive rewards a bit early. Forsaken-only weapons and armor pieces — complete with random rolls — have found there way into multiple players’ inventories, including our own.
Players have been posting to Twitter and other platforms since the patch dropped yesterday, saying they’re getting items that should not be dropping yet.
Here are just a few examples:

Like many players, we were able to replicate this fun new bug by completing the new Flashpoint, which is taking place on Mars this week. While we weren’t lucky enough to earn a new weapon, a new piece of Forsaken leg armor did drop in our inventory. The piece is for Titans only and called Scatterhorn Greaves. Similar pieces dropped for the other two classes as well. It seems as though it’s supposed to drop from the new Tangled Shore location inForsaken.

We are aware of an issue where players are receiving Forsaken items earlier than intended.

While Bungie says it’s aware of this issue, it’s unlikely that they’ll put any fix in place untilForsaken is released on Sept. 4. Until then, it seems like the Flashpoint will reward people with new weapons and armor. However, for players who get drops over 400 — meaning that they have completed a set of Solstice of Heroes armor — they will be unable to equip their new gear until after Forsaken is released and they can level up past 30.

[h=1]Destiny 2: Forsaken data mine reveals new and returning exotics in the expansion[/h]

[h=2]Some of these new pieces could be very powerful come Sept. 4[/h]

Destiny 2: Forsaken’s 2.0 pre-patch is only a few days old, but already players have begun to datamine the new information released. Despite only being a pre-patch, v2.0 contains much of the Forsaken expansion itself. Destiny redditor ninth_reddit_account put together a list of all the new data-mined exotics coming in Forsaken.
Here is the full list of data-mined Forsaken exotics from that post.
[h=3]WEAPONS[/h]Cerberus+1, kinetic auto rifle — “Four-Headed Dog: Shoots erratic bullets from all gun barrels at the same time.”
Wish-Ender, kinetic bow — “Queen’s Wrath: While aiming down sights with a fully-drawn bow, enemies behind walls are highlighted.”
Trinity Ghoul, energy Arc bow — “Split Electron: Fires an arrow that splits when released. Aiming down sights and fully drawing the bow both decrease the spread.”
One Thousand Voices, power Solar fusion rifle — “Ahamkara’s Eye: Charging this weapon unleashes a giant continuous beam of death.”
Malfeasance, kinetic hand cannon — “Explosive Shadow: Shoot tainted slugs that burrow into the enemy. Stacking enough slugs causes them all to explode.”
Ace of Spades*, kinetic hand cannon — “Memento Mori: Reloading after a kill loads magazine with a few extra-damage bullets. Grants radar while aiming down sights.”
The Queenbreaker*, power Arc linear fusion rifle — “Wire Rifle: Fires a long-range precision Arc bolt that blinds enemies on hit.”
Two-Tailed Fox, power Void rocket launcher — “Twintails: Shoots two rockets, one Void and one Solar, that can track onto the same target.”
The Chaperone*, kinetic shotgun — “Precision Slug: Fires a single-slug precision round.”
Lord of Wolves*, energy Solar shotgun — “Shrapnel Launcher: Fires a powerful short-range burst of Solar damage.”
Black Talon, power Void sword — “Crow’s Wings: Press the attack button twice to fire off a projectile cross combo.”
Wavesplitter, energy Void trace rifle — “Harmonic Laser: Laser damage has three power levels that oscillate while the trigger is held down.”
*Indicates a returning exotic from Destiny. In the case of The Queenbreaker, it could be a new exotic. However, Queenbreaker’s Bow from Destiny fits the description here very closely, leaving us to believe that it is the same exotic.
[h=3]ARMOR[/h][h=4]HUNTER[/h]Gwisin Vest, chest armor — “Roving Assassin: Each Spectral Blades kill you make before going into stealth will restore more of your Super energy.”
The Sixth Coyote, chest armor — “Double Dodge: Gain a second dodge charge.”
Oathkeeper, gauntlets — “Adamantine Brace: Bows charge faster, and charges can be held indefinitely.”
Shards of Galanor, gauntlets — “Sharp Edges: Hits and kills with Blade Barrage will return Super energy after the Super ends.”
[h=4]TITAN[/h]Heart of Inmost Light, chest armor — “Overflowing Light: Using a grenade, melee, or Barricade ability empowers you, granting increased damage and resistance. While empowered, the next ability you use has faster regen.”
Ursa Furiosa, gauntlets — “Ursine Guard: Move faster while guarding when Sentinel Shield is active. Guarded damage converts to Super energy when the Super ends.”
One-Eyed Mask, helmet — “Vengeance: Marks the enemy that dares to damage you. Track down and destroy your enemy for increased damage and overshield.”
Antaeus Wards, leg armor — “Reflective Vents: Improved slide. Sliding reflects incoming projectiles. Reflecting projectiles grant Super energy.”
[h=4]WARLOCK[/h]Chromatic Fire, chest armor — “Crystalline Transistor: Precision kills with your Kinetic weapon create an explosion in the element of your equipped subclass.”
Phoenix Protocol, chest armor — “Battle-Hearth: Kills and assists you make while standing in your Well of Radiance return Super energy.”
Contraverse Hold, gauntlets — “Chaotic Exchanger: Charging your grenade with Chaos Accelerant, Consume, or Radioactive will give damage resist. Charged grenade hits return a random amount of grenade energy.”
Geomag Stabilizers, leg armor — “Close Enough: When Chaos Reach Super energy is almost full, sprinting tops it off. Damaging enemies with Chaos Reach extends its duration.”
It’s worth noting that these exotics will likely have several other perks feeding into them. Ninth_reddit_account also assures players in their post that this is not the full list of exotics, and that some are being hidden. Players will to wait and uncover the rest of the game’s exotics after Forsaken is released on Sept. 4 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

[h=1]Destiny 2 annual pass won’t add new planets, but will add new ‘bubble’ locations[/h]
[h=2]Bungie’s Steve Cotton and Scott Taylor elaborate on how players will adventure to new areas this year[/h]

The Destiny 2 annual pass has been the cause of some confusion since it was announced in June. While players have known the names of the three annual pass add-ons (Black Armory, Joker’s Wild and Penumbra), the contents have remained mostly a mystery. In a recent video, Bungie clarified the themes of each expansion, confirmed the return of heavy machine guns and promised new activities for players who do and don’t own the annual pass.
During a Q&A with Destiny 2: Forsaken’s game director Steve Cotton and project lead Scott Taylor at Bungie’s studio, we asked the developers if there would be any new locations for Guardians to explore come Black Armory, Joker’s Wild and Penumbra.
“We’re going to have new places to check out,” said Taylor. “Sorry, I should be specific. What we call ‘bubbles’ or new spaces; I’m not saying new planets.”
Cotton reiterated that no new planets would be added over the next year.
In the video, which shows off some of the annual pass content, players are seen hanging out in several new locations. The Black Armory section shows players in what looks to be some kind of underground bunker, where the Penumbra section suggests that Guardians will be able to patrol the Leviathan ship that housed Destiny 2’s first raid.
“No new planets” also leaves room for returning locations from the original Destiny. Most notably, the final cinematic in Destiny 2’s core campaign — which has accurately shown the areas we’ve gone to since launch — shows off Oryx’s Dreadnaught and Saturn after the Reef. It’s a stretch, but we could see a return to the giant Hive ship.
However, these bubble locations could also be small areas carved out of existing planets, increasing the playable space for locations like Mercury or the EDZ. We should find out closer to the first annual pass’ release, Black Armory, this December.
