Hi members, I have AUSU P5KPL-CM mobo and CM-460, Ihad fallen asleep and woke up to find my system had shutdown (no electricity) but the LED on mobo was on, when I tried to pwer up it won't, so I shut PSU switch and turned it on, system started but their was spark on mains switc, so fixed that. Now problem is it seems PSU is dead. no LED turns on. I tired PSU on Optiplex 260 but didn't work. I tried shorting green and black pins but it didn't work. here is what is weird their seems to be no burned component, no burning smell when that happened.

so what has happened?

can it be fixed?

where in Saddar I have it tested?.

Can I Dell Optiplex 260's PSU to power up my motherboad? it only has 20 pin motherboard connector unlike 20+4 pin?

if it has failed which PSU to buy?

I don't have any GPU and I plan to get decent one like future counterparts of 5670/5750, GTX450 but that happen for few months.
so please put forward your suggestion.

Thank you~

try to repair the psu first but it will cost you a minimum of 500rs
and accordin gto your specs and plans a xigmatek 400watt or antec 430 watt is more then enough for you

Your system was probably in sleep mode. This feature is enabled in Vista or newer MS OS by default.

Seems to be a PSU related problem. Some component short-circuited.

Do you use a stabilizer (or other protective measures) or your system is directly plugged to the wall socket? How do you deal with the issue of fluctuation?

I suspect care less connectivity or poor quality power cord, which caused the spark.

can it be fixed?
Possibly.

It may work but motherboard will not get full power.

Mention your budget.

their wasn't any fluctuation. it was like what u have when you have loose plug connected into wal socket. it shouldn't toast the PSU.
I also have a fuse protecting the extension lead/supply (to whole system, Monitor, CPU, speakers etc etc.) and their wasn't any fluctuation cause I've had known , have seen many before.
if their was short it would have blown the fuse first to the supply cord and second to the one installed in power cord that originally comes with PSU.

I was saving money to buy GPU but it seems it won't be happening anytime soon. Max I wanna spend is 3500~4000.

I powered my system with Optiplex 260's PSU and it booted so motherboard is fine :D...
I'm gonna have it tested first but doubt I don't believe it'll be at the same output level as before without any sort of risk ///
so here are my choices
Xigmatek VC-403 @ 3.9k (3500+440)..but it only has 2 SATA connectors ~__~
Xigmatek NRP-PC 402 @ 4.6k (4200+440)
Antec VP450P 450W @ 3.7k from galaxy ....
or buy the CM460 again, though I wouldn't wanna do that...

their is also Enermax 460 W being sold at galaxy for 1800 , 7 day checking but I don't have confidence in it

I did not said that fluctuation was the culprit in your case.

I clearly stated this:

I suspect care less connectivity or poor quality power cord, which caused the spark.

Power cord does not sparks at random. Sparks occur when a power cord is loosely plugged or is plugged in to an active socket without switching off.

Anyways! I have seen cases of 'power cord sparking' leading to PSU malfunctions. Your case also seems to be similar. That sparking likely caused some problem in your PSU.

Get your PSU checked. If you are not in to repairs than get a new one.

Don't bother repairing the PSU. You are very lucky that your motherboard has not been damaged because of the PSU. But if you repair the PSU and it shorts circuits again your motherboard might be damaged as well. My suggestion is to buy a new PSU.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
