XBOX Capcom Claims: 360 GPU = Nvidia 8800 series SHOCKER

According to a rough translation, Capcom has exposed some info on the 360 video card basically stating it is on par with the Nvidia 8800 series or What it means is the 360 graphics card is a s good as the best PC graphics card out at the moment.

Tat is right.st Microsoft wnet with Nvidia for thier console graphics card but due to some unknow reasons Ati was chosen by microsoft.The question that the 360 card is stronger than 8800 is not ture actually.The Rs version of PS3 graphics chip is more faster than the 8800 a bit.infact befor the emrgance of 8800 the 7950 which was the fastest GPU of that time was faded up in comparsion with RS chip of PS3.remeber the 7950 was cpmaored in SLI form.So the reason that y PS3 games r not coming which show thereal power of that machine is because there r some graphics compatability issue with PS3 GPU but it does not mean that it is not a powerful Gpu.A bro said taht their will be a PS4 which have a strong Gpu but this is reality taht thier wll be no PS4.yeh that is is ture cause the new Vp of sony has announced that bak in Dec 2006.8800 is very poweful GPU at the moment but not faster and powerful PS3 Gpu.360 Gpu is much slower than the 8800 so capcom news is not tustworhty.

Nah, it has been rechecked by many native japneese members at GAF nothing wrong with the translation and MS has always said that Xenos is the most techincally advanced GPU ever created. They just don't have ken kutragi to make big crazy statements.

errr... ps3 is using a PC card called 7800???? what was all this 7950 and 8800 are much powerful than 7800. What you said made no sense whatsoever. 360 uses a custom made GPU called Xenos with a unified memory sturcture and has features of DX 10 and DX 9 cards ( and some unique to it ). PS3 is simply using an old DX9 PC card.

didn't we discuss this long long ago? Xenos has a unified memory which makes it more powerful you can check any professional review ( IGN, dfrag, arctechinca, avsforums ). The RSX was never supposed to be a very powerful GPU reason? The CELL, the aim of the cell processor is to reduce the use of GPU and in the future eliminate it by making a CPU which is the GPU. The only problem is Sony rushed the CELL which means it may never happen.


Coming back to topic, Capcom has "streched" it a bit the 8800 has some features more powerful than the Xenos ( Pixel Shaders ) some pretty equal ( vertex performance ) and in some the Xenos is more powerful ( EDRAM ). I'll say the Xenos is a bit less powerful than the 8800.

i dunno, i think its pretty clear that xenos isnt as powerful as the 8800 series of card, capcom probably wanted to say that they have found some features which give equal performance as the 8800 , not that the xenos itself is as powerful as 8800, word jumbles.
