I wanna perform thorough disk check of my laptop hard disk but I'm not being able to do so. I have Win 7, when pc restarts for the disk check, it cancels itself & I don't press any key, my keyboard keys r fine too.

Any solution?

Update: Problem solved. Tried CMD method as K3yser told it but it worked with run as Admin as abobobilly told it.

noman3000: run a ccleaner registry scan to check the bootscan entry, could be some virus etc has disabled it.

alternatively;

-go to run > cmd press enter > @ command prompt go down to C: (or watever drive thats giving error) and type > chkdsk /f press enter.

this'll hopefully resolve ur issue bro...

I have 2 drives C & D, tried on both but same error as can be seen on the above screenshot.

yes thats coz you're running it in some mode other than ADMIN mode. log on as admin then try...

In Windows 7 ...

1. Right Click on the drive you want to scan, and go to Properties.
2. From the Tools Tab, Click on Error Checking.

From there you can schedule a disk check.

---------

If you are not able to use CMD, then make sure you are Running it as Administrator.

From Start Menu, type CMD in the search bar (not Win+R, but the search bar which is at the bottom of Start Menu). Right click on CMD and Run it as Admin.

No that's not the problem, I can run CMD without any problem. Problem is that when I restart my pc for disk check (disk check always perform after reboot in DOS screen, u know it very well), the disk check timer starts (press any key to cancel 10 seconds.. this type of message comes) but it cancels automatically.

I used ur method of right clicking too, wese I use tune up utility monthly for disk cleaning but this time it's not performing disk check.

Edit: I had Win Vista & never had disk check problem, it means this problem occurs in Win 7?

Very good. Install avast! Free Antivirus and run a "Boot-Time Scan". See if it helps.
O bhai, I installed this & my pc got fucked up, was not even starting so I just uninstalled it back from safe mode, now pc is fine. But disk check problem still exists. Anti virus software is itself a virus in my opinion. I don't like it.

are you using chkdsk ?
I'm using tune up utilites..
coming backto your issue:

run combofix (download from www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/combofix )

see if that solves your problem...

It's not available on ur given link. Although I found it on google but it's looking a risky software bcoz this is written on the site:
IMPORTANT : ComboFix is extremely powerful , You should not run ComboFix.exe unless you are asked to by a trained helper .
