HI Syavash,

If you need any CFA related advice, I am your guy :D

I think the faster you start studying for the CFA, the better it is. I always recommend new comers into the program who have no financial back ground to give the exam at least 6 months of preparations. It is not a piece of cake and the first level will decide whether you are capable of completing the journey.

Studying for ACCA along with CFA can be done but it will require you to dedicate a lot of your time studying and clear out your schedule for social activity. You can sit for the exam in Dec even if you do not have a Bachelors degree. CFA will not check your degree.

So in short, I will recommend you to seriously consider doing CFA and attempting the paper as soon as possible. As for the job market, everyone does ACCA these days and is not a sort after degree for employers. I am currently in London and I get calls from recruiters almost every other week.

Let me know if you have any further questions or PM me as this is a CA thread.
With all due respect, trying to attempt both qualifications at once in one exam window is seriously undermining the strength of these qualifications.

I don't think CFA can be done along with ACCA, unless you are a brilliant brilliant student who has been a world topper in all his previous exams.

Seriously, i'm not discouraging the person who asked this question, but you'll be in for a nervous breakdown if you try and attempt both at once. Its like eating two fat double layered burgers at once LOL.

Anyways, best of luck for your future.

bro, I totally agree with your point, but since the person who asked said that he can manage hence the recommendation from my side. I would never carry out two qualifications at once. CFA is no joke and it demands time and respect which I think Syavash will understand in due time.

No. If you want to sit for the exams, no experience required but to earn the charter you need four years of relevant experience.
What kind of value cfa adds if one already has certification in accounting? Does it add any value? or should the person just do mba from a reputed university or another accounting certification from another body?

Study from start, make a timetable cause you have to cover the whole course outline which is pretty big to do in 6 months and think positive.
TSA\al hamd\mirchawala, well basically it all depends on the teacher and you.

Well it all depends on which way you want your career to move. CFA does add value to the CA certification in the sense that if you want to move away from basic audit, M&A, general consulting and jump into investment management, portfolio management, macro and micro analysis, making investment decisions. CFA is much more rewarding in my opinion.
If you have done CA, why on earth would you want to do a MBA? just to add certifications if you want to.

I guess it all pretty much is done to what you really want in your career path and then I can guide you on which direction to take.

IBA ACF degree

ACF degree from IBA allows us to skip CA articleship. If i do go for it and later choose not to go for CA CFA will it be looked down at? Like something half complete? Also are job prospects good after acf? or do i need to do more like Masters in finance or mba?

*made a mistake, it allows us to skip the modules done before articleship and not articleship itself nor the modules after articleship

If this ACF thing is true then ICAP might as well shoot us all (the CA finalists banging their heads against the examination wall) and recruit its new force from IBA. This is hilarious.

I know about the 'till Mod D' exemption however your initial post gave out the hint of full articles being exempt - if that is so then it's highly barbarous of ICAP. I gave up a nice, sweet and full of love university life for this dumb idiotic and hectic routine in the top firm of Pakistan and I have been living it everyday for the past four years. Hearing such news does not only torments my soul but also makes me hate this foul examination body even further.

A word of advice? If you're gonna do MBA without completing CA, then just do MBA right away. Don't look side ways for exemptions or any such thing. If you choose CA then you must complete that. Make a goal and stick to it - that's the only key to success.
