Hello people,

I’m putting together a system with some old and new hardware combined.

Would need your expert opinion to get this right.

This what I’ve planned out.

Motherboard: Asus Rampage II Extreme

Processor: Core i7 930, 4.8GT / Sec

RAM: Corsair XMS3 DHX 1600mhz [1GB x 4]

HDD: 1 TB Western Digital

Casing: HAF X

PSU: CORSAIR 750 WATTS (12V / 60A)

GPU: EVGA GTX 275

LCD: 22 Inch Samsung

Now my questions:

1 – The RAM’s I have are from an old system. Are they compatible with the Asus board?
2 – Is the power supply too much? Is it safe to get a 600 watts PSU?
3 – is Asus Rampage II Extreme worth the investment?

Thank You

1-the rams are compatible with the board you have selected2-your psu is save keep it up it will not cause any harm to your pc and if you decide to upgrade gpu so you will not have to buy a powerfull psu again.(i wonder why you are using gtx 275 get gtx 460 1gb variant instead of gtx 275 or get 5870)3-i dont think that its worth if you are not an extreme overclocker you can get p6t and save 12k which you can spend on your gpu p6t is a good mobo it supports sli can also overclock a bit and you are getting a high perfomance processor so there is no need to overclock it extremely it can play all games and runs every application smoothly)so get p6t and spend rest of ur money gpu.you just have to buy a good gpu and you are good to go.

Alright.. How about the P6X58D-E? Is my RAM compatible with that?

I have a GTX 275 already, so not gonna buy a new gpu for some time.

Thanx for the input

you can also opt for xigmatek 700w psu for 9000 or antec 750w psu for 9600 with 10 month warranty period, compared to 6 months and same performance as corsair
