Hi!

So i'm in a pickle of a situation...

I got a new Samsung Galaxy A5 from work not over 2 weeks ago... however, over the weekend it slipped off a table, fell and cracked the screen :( - I've dropped my iphone 4 numerous times but never had its screen shattered

Anyway, I now need to get this fixed. I have the following options and need your advice.

First advice is from Samsung Experts:

I don't have the warranty card since the office kept it, but I have the box and it has a sticker with "Accidental Coverage".

Question 1- Will this be covered in warranty for free? If not, what will be the charges?

I spoke to my office [did not tell them I broke the phone but asked for their policy on warranty] and they have the following policy:

If Samsung charges them for damages, then I'll have to pay. Simple.

I took the phone to Hafeez Center [Shop: Links International] and they said it'll cost me 12.5K to fix the screen

Question 2 - Now here comes the other problem. I've rooted my phone - so does that mean my warranty is void? If yes - then please help with Question 3

Question 3 - For Android and Samsung Experts - How to unroot a phone with shattered screen? I tried ADB and Droid @ Screen software to access my phone, but I can't authorize my computer since I can't see or touch anything on my screen :(

Please help!

1 : Accidental coverage is mostly offered by Greentech Who are official resellers of Samsung in Pakistan. And they will not charge you a penny. Its what accidental coverage is for :p

2 : Screen is dead. SO how would they know if the Device is rooted or not? Just take the phone to them. Don't tell that you've rooted the phone and you should be find. They won't check unless they've been told.

3 : USB Debugging needs to be ON in order for Screen software to work.

They can check the root status without the screen too but it shouldn't matter. Don't think they'd take away your accidental damage coverage over rooting.

Your screen is broken, and this comes under the accidental damage coverage. You won't have to pay anything.

thank you boys - that's a relief to know that they dont check rooting if not necessary.

I do have the USB Debugger on - had it from before and I can see portion of my screen, though as time goes on, it's getting filled more and more with dark black patches of liquid crystals. :(

I'll take it to the office and ask for a warranty. Now my next hope is office procurement dont rip me off (assholes rip everyone off whenever possible)... will be raising some hell then :D

EDIT:

Just as a note: The person at the office did state first that damages will be paid by end user but when I asked him that the box has "accidental coverage" and it makes no sense for them to charge me, only then they said that if Samsung charges them then I'll have to pay. So I'm skeptical.

BTW - this phone is from M&P.

Although M&P offers Free accidental coverage. Only way to find out is to take the phone to them. And ask them.

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
