Apparently Bethesda can't fit in all the Oblivion + expansions textures into the game because the PS3 doesnot have enough RAM to support game. As a result this means the PS3 will not have the downloadable expansions which the 360 version will have. This also means whatever storage advantage Blu ray had is negated by the limited amount of RAM.
The Cell processor really needs to start weaving its magic now as the pressure on the RSX and RAM is really building up.

ome PS3 games have DLC. I don't have a PS3 yet so I can't test it out how exactly it works.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is more of an internal issue of a content struggle between Bethesda and Sony. Bethesda wants to charge extra for this stuff like on X360, whereas Sony wants all this content on a retail disc since the game is a year late on PS3. I don't know for certain either way, though.
Exactly, the only technical issues I've heard from Bethesda, was also in the only PS3 related interview I've seen with Bethesda. The only complaint that was brought up regarding the PS3 port was the slowness of the Blu-ray drive, and the need to possibly stream data off the HD (page file style) to speed up the load times.

RR7 is constantly reading from cache, so there's no reason Oblivion couldn't work in the same way.

baltheda has said that they'd do the expansions in DLC format later on, nothing has been finalized yet, but this just seems like another case of bad 360 to PS3 porting to me.

from what i've gathered at the 1upshow topic at GAF baltheda hasnt made anything final yet, they'll probably release the expansions in a suitable way for the ps3 to run them in DL format. Although this type of problems shouldnt even occour. Inexperienced devs i guess.

er.. well yeah anyone would call a developer inexperienced (or rather really lazy) if the developer just directly tends to copy paste code from a 360 to a ps3 which is a completely different kind of architectural machine without optimizing it properly to run on it.

and is it just me or do you value gaf too much devil lol, you copy their joke styles, all the news topics etc..

don't we all? most of your news topics come from gaf and most of my jokes are my own i am very sensitive about my sense of humor i am crying right now.And gaf is easily the best place for news hell i haven't visited GS, Joystiq, Kotaku for quite a long time now and i am not even a real GAF member i just copy paste their news stuff and occasionally post i have 100 posts since i joined.
Point being i make my own jokes don't say anything to them my jokes are awesome YOU ARE WRONG.

yeah and it CLEARLY shows they've been doing a bang up job of it lol, i think its pretty clear they're being lazy, hell with this huge ass expansion coming out it doesnt take a genius to figure out that they've been spending more time on THAT rather then PS3 optimization.
