How often have you got into a game of Defense of the Ancients (DotA), sketched a plan of action out, and seen it fail miserably? There are quite a few less known secrets in DotA, which can change the tides of battle for or against your team. So, for all you DotA fans out there, here's some stuff that you might've not known. Read up, and who knows, they might just help you win your next DotA match:
Fact #1
The Headress of Regeneration stacks with Mekanism, giving your whole team almost as good Hit-points regeneration as the Heart of Torrasue! (I.e. when you cast Mekanism's active AoE heal). So the next time you play a support hero, consider buying both these items.
Fact #2
Silencing Skills such as Bloodrage and Global Silence, silence only skills and not items. So, when silenced, you can always use a Scroll of Teleport, or your Dagger of Escape to get out of a sticky situation.
Fact #3
Backtrack (Faceless Void) and Dispersion (Mercurial) are the only evasion skills that stack with the Butterfly's evasion. Others either override or get overridden, depending on the higher Evasion Value.
Fact #4
When you fire a passive self casting skill such as Searing Arrow (Bone Fletcher) using a hotkey, it is considered a spell cast and not a passive ability. How can this help you? You can use this to dispel Curse of the Silent, ignore creep aggro, or even proximate Essence Aura (The Obsidian Destroyer)!
Fact #5
Chain Frost (Lich) has a small mini stun (like that of the Monkey King Bar) that can be used to stop teleports and disrupt channeling spells such as Bane Elemental’s Fiend’s Grip.
Fact #6
You can cast ensnare on Magic Immune Heroes (such as heroes using a Black King Bar).
Fact #7
If you're using the Lord of Avernus, and you're certain that you're going to die by the hands of your enemies, you can use his Death Coil to kill yourself while you have low hit-points!
Fact #8
The Lord of Avernus' Aphotic Shield can be used to dispel most damage over times spells on you and your teammates. It even dispels the Treant Protector's Overgrowth (ultimate), so be sure to use it to save your teammate's life.
Fact #9
You can only see up to 8 debuffs / buffs on your hero at once. Any additional buffs will have their icon hidden, but will still be effective.
Fact #10
The Ursa Warrior has ranged type attack (although his range is rather low). He doesn't benefit from any melee buffs like Vladmir's lifesteal. However, he gains full benefit from ranged buffing auras/spells such as Trueshot aura.
