    S5 is a bridge camera .its has more feature compared to IXUS 100is.you can even use external flash with S5- isn't that cool :)[feature of a slr] .basicaly S5 is meant for advanced users who doesn't want to buy slr .in my opinion you should stop comparing camera based on Mega pixel .Mega pixel doesn't affect image quality .

    just keep one thing in mind -shoot shoot and shoot .you will only get better with time :)

    if you find colours bit pale etc .do some post processing(increasing the saturation or whatever you like or shot in Vivid mode (you will get more saturated colours ).

    regarding noise : well you will have to live with a bit a grain .one of the biggest -ve's of point and shoot .
