I mean, you're also comparing games that came atleast a DECADE after Crysis.
So? There are games that came before Crysis that are far beyond anything emergent that it does. Ever heard of Dwarf Fortress? The Sims? These are some of the games that actually set the benchmark for future titles with emergent gameplay, such as Minecraft. Several space sims like Freelancer also have emergent elements.

But the whole concept is new to CerebralTiger so this is expected that he never grasped at the brilliance of it.
Says the guy who thinks Crysis set the benchmark for emergent gameplay. What a joke :ROFLMAO:

Makes it pointless to discuss this with someone who fails to understand the concepts in the first place.
Truly, it is indeed pointless to discuss the concept with someone who thinks Crysis, of all games, set the benchmark for emergent gameplay. A research on the history of emergent gameplay is in order :ROFLMAO:

It helps that the game features a high degree of advanced physics and destructibility in a highly dynamic world. Getting caught in a firefight in the jungle is a cinematic treat, thanks to the way the bullets will chop down trees, while branches sway from impacts. This isn't just a visual effect, either, as falling timber can kill if it lands on someone. There's all sorts of emergent behavior like that throughout the game, events that spring up completely unintended or unforeseen. In one instance, the flaming wreckage of a chopper landed on a hut, crushing it and killing all those inside.
Crytek has managed to deliver an incredibly advanced and exciting first-person shooter that practically rewrites the rules for the entire genre.
I repeat ☝

These are some of the games that actually set the benchmark for future titles with emergent gameplay, such as Minecraft.
And nothing BoTW/ToTK does that comes even remotely close to Minecraft so what are you even harping about when it comes to those games? Neither the first ones to do it nor the one to best realize it in an open world. Give me Just Cause franchise or the 300 mil+ seller Minecraft over these two any day 🤜😂

BUAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA lol at calling this emergent. Hilarious 😂
It obviously isn't emergent on the level of TOTK, Minecraft, or Fortnite, but these are emergent elements by definition. In the first video, a mechanic designed for feeding humans to clickers was used to feed a runner to a clicker, followed by dropping on the back resulting in a slide due to the slippery surface. In the second video, a downed enemy are used as cover against another. In the third video, an aerial takedown is performed while hanging from a rope. None of these interactions between systems were intended by the development team 🤜

The reviewer references a chopper falling on a hut and killing everyone inside as unintended behavior. Not only is that not unintended behavior, stuff like this has been done in several games before Crysis, including GTA and Halo :ROFLMAO:

He's also a massive Crytek fanboy like yourself, bechara wherever he is now 🤷‍♂️

Speaking of which, the original Crysis (arguably the best game in the series) aged worse than milk 👇

Who the hell cares what you want lmao. BOTW and TOTK are both trendsetters and generation defining games, and they're some of the best open world games out there to offer emergent gameplay in their genre, with their only rivals being the games that Rockstar makes. A widely accepted fact. Deal with it 🤜

As for Cyberpunk 2077, the development team spent 3 years trying to rebuild the broken mess that it was at launch, and it still remains to be seen if any of that will payoff 🤷‍♂️

You can cry and check their history all you want. That's a metacritic certified review at the end of the day. Deal with it. Who are you? Certified forum warrior, that's it 🤷‍♂️😂

I mean, a widely accepted fact is that both Larian and CDPR have now gone on to make one of the best games of all time. You're the one whining about turn based combat pretending to be some authority over its merits. And 8 years later, looking for Witcher 3 first after Metacritic gets it's redesign lmao. Clearly, you're the one who still hasn't been able to deal with the success of these two studios. It's about time you accepted facts before the next 8 years ruins yo lyffee ever more, thanks to Larian 🤷‍♂️😂

I have no issues with Larian. They just make achiac turn-based games that I have no interest in 🤷‍♂️

Rahi baat CDP ki, the studio's life was ruined with Cyberpunk 2077, and even after 3 years, the game continues to receive band-aid fixes. Here's hoping for Necrokiller's sake that the so-called systems overhaul actually is what they claim it is :ROFLMAO:

An outdated review
It was meant to reflect on your outdated understanding. But alas, that understanding hasn't moved an inch in 15 years 🤷‍♂️😂

And what if I'm Opencritic certified? What then? :ROFLMAO:
Being there doesn't matter. Top Critics certified does affect the score though. Good for you (and Twisted Voxel lol) I guess if that's the case. More ammo against you preferring Metacritic 🤷‍♂️😂

Rahi baat CDP ki, the studio's life was ruined with Cyberpunk 2077
30+ million sales say otherwise. Took Cyberpunk 2077 2-3 years to reach what BoTW needed 6 years for. So yeah 🤷‍♂️🤜

How's your Bayonetta 3, Dreadful, Returnal doing though? Did they reach even half of those sales yet? Any updates? 🤔😂

I have no issues with Larian. They just make achiac turn-based games
Not having interest is fine. Pretending to disqualify turned based combat as an objectively worse genre is you having something against them. It's rated 96 in 2023 after all 🤷‍♂️😂

All dem builds. The fluidity, the mobility, the versatility, the verticality, the unique abilities. By far the best shooter RPG combat evarrr. Can't wait 🤩🤩🤩

You're doing a poor job of proving my "outdated" understanding, especially by quoting an outdated review where the reviewer considers stuff like a chopper dropping on a building and killing those inside as some pioneering moment of emergent gameplay :ROFLMAO:

The only thing you need to understand is this:

30+ million sales say otherwise. Took Cyberpunk 2077 2-3 years to reach what BoTW needed 6 years for. So yeah 🤷‍♂️🤜
Took TOTK one month to reach nearly 2/3 of 30 million lmaoooooo :ROFLMAO:🤜

Besides, 30+ million is a front loaded figure for Cyberpunk 2077's sales. Despite granting refunds for physical copies, CD Projekt never had them recalled, giving them the excuse to continue counting them as copies sold (for $0 lmao). The company does not share $ sales data with NPD for a reason  🤜

How's your Bayonetta 3, Dreadful, Returnal doing though? Did they reach even half of those sales yet? Any updates? 🤔😂
Why them specifically? Why aren't you asking about my Mario Kart, my Super Smash, or my Animal Crossing? 🤷‍♂️

Not having interest is fine. Pretending to disqualify turned based combat as an objectively worse genre is you having something against them. It's rated 96 in 2023 after all 🤷‍♂️😂
Objectively speaking, there is no one-to-one interactivity between the player and AI in a game with turn-based combat. No complex handling of physics either. It says a lot this form of combat can be played at frame rates as low as 15 fps :ROFLMAO:

By far the best shooter RPG combat evarrr. Can't wait 🤩🤩🤩
Lmao @ these qualifiers. The game was crushed by a far superior shooter in the GOTY deliberations. Nevarr forget :ROFLMAO:

It was a technical mess let alone on your Switch 😂

Took TOTK one month to reach nearly 2/3 of 30 million lmaoooooo :ROFLMAO:🤜

Good. That means most sales were full price. You're doing a terrible job at downplaying 30mil + sales 😂

Why them specifically? Why aren't you asking about my Mario Kart, my Super Smash, or my Animal Crossing? 🤷‍♂️
Those still won't change the fact that many of your beloved studios are performing poorly.

Besides , we all know CerebralTiger doesn't play them at all. Any one of Dreadful, Lulzonetta or Retoooornal will have a higher play time than all those combined 🤣

Lmao @ these qualifiers.
LMAO at shooter RPG being a qualifier. Goes to show CerebralTiger can't accept that it's best in the genre 🤜😂

Now, these are desperate qualifiers worth laughing at. A 96 on Metacritic in 2023 is all you need to know to put a lid on your so-called "objectivity. Let alone being reviewed after ToTK and it's lol worthy real time w/pause not making a jack of difference. yikes yikes yikes 🤣

Following the development of canon scores that CerebralTiger is so interested in, it can now be established that 87 is the new CerebralTiger "mid" as that's the score Metacritic is considering canon for Cyberpunk 2077 🤜

Updated list of noteworthy games now with a "mid" status:

- Marvel's Spiderman
- Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut
- Astral Chain
- Final Fantasy XVI*
- Final Fantasy VII Remake*
- Gran Turismo 7*
- Marvels' Spiderman Remastered*

* = ranked below Cyberpunk 2077 🤜:ROFLMAO:

Naturally, this means that Returnal and Bayonetta 3 are below "mid" (bad I guess?) games 🤷‍♂️🤣
