They are reviewing a product and its a platform specific review. Anything detrimental to the experience will be discussed. The absence of it proves that the reviewer did not experience any such act while reviewing the game.

"Anything detrimental to the experience"...you mean like frame rate issues? It's hardly ever the case.

PC game reviews don't cover the favorable or adverse effects of modding, despite it leading to cheating in multiplayer games and therefore being a major concern by the developer itself. A recent example: https://www.ign.com/articles/valorant-review

Just one of many examples.

Prey PS4 - Gamespot
Prey's technical issues are also present on the Xbox One. This version features lengthy load times when moving between areas and small hitches when entering new rooms in the current area. Combat feels similarly sluggish and imprecise, though this is remedied in the PC version thanks to the mouse control option. The PC also has the shortest load times, lasting roughly 10-15 seconds when transitioning between many of the early areas, compared to over a minute on both console versions. If you have the option, the PC version is the one to play.
Prey PC - IGN
Note: When Prey launched, I hit a game-breaking bug on PC that prevented me from recommending it. That’s now been patched, and so has this review. It’s now updated to cover our experiences on all platforms. It was initially scored as a 4.0 on PC.
How much it affects a particular reviewer will vary, but discussing performance issues faced by an individual in reviews is very common. If someone has an issues that game reviews don't venture in benchmarking territory, that's another topic. But "overlooking cheating in a review because its not the right place for it" is a laughable explanation.

Game-breaking bugs and load times are not frame rate issues. The latter being discussed in reviews isn't common at all.

Like I just stated along with a very recent example of an online game, PC game reviews don't cover the pros and cons of modding.

Regardless, Assassin's Creed: Origins has a lot to offer new and old fans alike - though the state of its technical performance at launch is highly questionable.

https://www.rpgsite.net/review/6259-assassin-s-creed-origins-review
Too bad for a limping technical optimization, which spoils the performance of what could have been the best Assassin's Creed ever made.

https://www.eurogamer.it/articles/2018-10-01-assassins-creed-odyssey-recensione
Remedy's Control might eventually be one of the coolest games on the market, but upon release framerate, balance, and popup issues are so rampant that players are forced to change their style of play to work around the bugs.

https://www.psu.com/reviews/control-ps4-review/
but the unreliable framerate that goes with it puts a stop to the enjoyment far too frequently.

https://www.pushsquare.com/reviews/ps4/control
The sporadic frame drops are a bit of a letdown, but in the end you won't be too bothered about this.

https://www.psx-sense.nl/369499/review-control/
Performance issues hamper the shootouts, and the characters are a little cold, but it's the setting and atmosphere that win the day.

https://www.videogamer.com/reviews/control-review
While it is lacklustre in some areas of gameplay and possesses some performance issues

http://play.co.rs/2019/09/review-control/
At the same time there are many performance issues like frame drops, occasional stuttering and even the odd crash now and again.

https://www.psx-sense.nl/355426/review-days-gone/
Poor technical performance further hinders its chances of survival, but perhaps with time that wound will heal.

https://www.newgamenetwork.com/article/2102/days-gone-review/
¯¯\_(ツ)_/¯¯

Why would a reviewer overlook, and not even mention it once, a cheater in an online game if they actually encountered one? Makes no sense.

So, not common, then. I can think of multiple examples where reviews made no mention of performance issues.

And the answer to your original argument has already been given:

Like I just stated along with a very recent example of an online game, PC game reviews don't cover the pros and cons of modding.
They may have occasionally discussed the pros, but never the cons.

As for why Edge chose to review the inferior version of Warzone, this happens all the time. Publications choose to review console versions of single-player games all the time over their PC counterparts.

More often than not publications are sent review copies so its not their decision. Given the choice, Edge made the right call here.

No they are not. Same goes for YT influencers. so the choice still rests with the publisher/developer lol

Edge preferred to play Warzone on PC. Fact.

Codes are limited, but review requests are generally sent out well in advance, and therefore fulfilled.

Edge preferred to play Warzone on PC. Fact.
The reviewer in question either preferred to test the PC version or only had PC as an option. We don't know such facts.

Either way, a majority of Warzone reviews are for the PS4 version, and a vast majority of MW reviews are for PS4.

So in conclusion, Edge Magazine enthusiasts think Edge reviewer ran into cheaters on Warzone (PC), but weren't gonna talk about it. Because reasons.

And even then, they thought the PC version of Warzone is a better game than Modern Warfare (2019) on PS4.

Modern Warfare (PS4)

Warzone (PC)

Maybe its time these people found a new magazine that fit their agendas :hah:

In conclusion, Edge magazine, much like other game critics, doesn't criticize a game based on the adverse effects of it running on an open platform.

"For more on Valorant, check out our review-in-progress", where we make no mention of the game's biggest issue despite covering it elsewhere.

Call of Duty: Warzone is trying to rid itself of cheaters on PC, as developer Infinity Ward has implemented mandatory two-factor authentication (2FA) for the battle royale game. New security updates require Warzone PC players to enable two-factor authentication before they can use their account. It aims to keep cheaters from entering games and ruining everyone else's fun.

An article in May 2020 proves that the reviewer in March 2020 faced cheaters, but wasn't gonna cover it in the review because.....reasons :hah:

Now we have Edge as well as Gamepsot who did not face cheaters in their review. Surely, if the fairy tale of not wanting to cover in the review is to be believed, they would've given a personal account in other articles. But nope. Never happened so how could they? Wonder which publication is next :hah:

Offline content unlocked without grinding. Totally the same thing. This is how we know how weak the arguments are

I also linked to the IGN article on Valorant cheaters, a game that isn't even out of beta yet and has a review-in-progress on the site. Yet no mention of cheaters ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They're judging the game on its merits, not the fact that it's on an exploitable platform lol.

So now its Edge, Gamespot and IGN. Quite prominent in the industry who never ran into cheaters themselves.

[h=1]Call of Duty: Warzone’s grenade launcher is powerful, but rare — and players love it[/h]

It’s almost a privilege to get killed by the MGL-32

A post on the Call of Duty: Warzone subreddit prompted discussion around the game’s extremely powerful grenade launcher. In March, players discovered that there’s a very small chance for the MGL-32 grenade launcher to drop mid-match. But some players have barely ever seen one in hundreds of games. That might be for the best.
In a new clip, user thewolfofwestoz demonstrated just how powerful the MGL-32 can be. The short clip shows thewolfofwestoz using the grenade launcher in a few different scenarios, wiping out entire teams of players in just a few shots. They titled the post “the grenade launcher is seriously OP [overpowered] but so much fun to use!” The comments agree about just how strong the gun is, but also, nobody seems upset at how powerful it can be.
“It’s extremely difficult to find... so if you found one it’s just reasonable to be completely OP,”commented Z3ID366. “Yeah I’ve played around 100 games of Warzone, found the GL 0 times, and played against it once. Super rare, and if it’s OP, it’s OP. Makes sense,” wrote Musicnote328.
The rest of the comments feature stories from players failing to use the grenade launcher, getting kills with it, or getting killed by it. Some players showed off their own videos featuring grenade launcher carnage, like user Acemanau (seen above).
Warzone’s grenade launcher is that rare example of a super-powered weapon done well in a multiplayer game. Because of its scarcity, getting killed by it is a surprise — a privilege, even. And even if you’re not willing to go that far, one thing is for certain: it definitely produces some stylish clips.

[h=1]New Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone season teases playable Captain Price[/h]

The new season begins in June

On Wednesday, the Call of Duty Twitter account revealed a trailer for season 4. The trailer heavily features Captain Price, one of the beloved characters from Modern Warfare, and possibly the nuke from Warzone. Infinity Ward will launch season 4 on Wednesday, June 3.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much about Infinity Ward’s plans to evolve the game in season 4. Instead, the focus is on the game’s story, and the growing threat of nuclear war. There’s a brief shot of a nuclear warhead in the trailer, which looks suspiciously like the warhead players found in the Bunker 11 easter egg. Players are still trying to figure out some of Bunker 11’s hidden secrets, and answers may come in season 4.

The trailer also spends a lot of time on Captain Price, and even shows him leading a squad in the back of an airplane. Players have wanted Captain Price as a playable Operator sinceModern Warfare’s launch last year. Based on the trailer above, it seems Infinity Ward may be teasing Price’s return to the field as Call of Duty’s latest Operator.
Infinity Ward will likely reveal more about the new season ahead of its launch next week.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
