#1 is the correct. The rest can suck an egg

Also, didn't we learn this lesson last year RDR was the highest reviewed game but God of War butchered it in the awards.

Likewise even though RE2 is the highest rated game, I won't be surprised if it's not the highest GoTY count winner because of how damn early it released in the year and how many websites won't remember that much about it come December.

1. Only Skyrim, Witcher 3 and BoTW butchered their competition.
2. The "lower rated" God of War was still a >90 rated game, not a mid-80 game.
3. "Released early in the year" affecting the outcome is quite the hot take.

1. 60+ over the next contender seems like a butchering to me. Also, if your criteria is a higher number, you should add Dragon Age Inquisition too
2. God of War is a fantastic game, I agree with you on that.
3. Mass Effect 2 is the best example of this. Game released in January and arguably (or definitively) was the best game of the year, and yet wasn't the highest GoTY count winner.

1. Yes, the ones I mentioned and also Dragon Age Inquisition. In other cases at least the runner up ended up winning 100+ awards anyway
2. And Death Stranding isn't even in the Top 10 best rated games this year. Not the same situation as God of War. It wouldn't even be getting this much attention if it wasn't a mainstream "A Hideo Kojima game".
3. Actually, 100+ awards and only 10 awards behind the winner proves you wrong. No one "forgot" about it despite coming out in January. You could claim recency bias but a "forgotten" game doesn't end up winning 100+ awards.

DA: Inquisition is 89 on PS4 and 85 on PC/XBO. Death Stranding is better reviewed than 2/3rds of platforms DA: I was on

2. See point 1. Death Stranding is currently the same/higher reviewed than 2 sets of DA: Inquisition reviews. Let's be realistic, it's probably not gonna win the most awards owing to how divisive the reviews themselves are (IGN 6.8 and Gamespot 9 etc). But it's certainly going to win some awards.

3. Tomato Tomato, Mass Effect 2 was the deserving GoTY. I remember some at PakGamers were swearing against it back in 2010 as well and I have not forgotten

1. Different games released in different years. How would Inquisition fair if was released next to BoTW, God of War or Witcher 3? I think you know the answer
2. I don't know whats the argument here? Will Death Stranding will some awards? Sure, it might. Do you believe Death Stranding will win more awards than RE2? I highly doubt that now.

Reviews aren't the only factor but Death Stranding doesn't have good chances of winning the most wards as it was expected from it. Looks like Kojima will be left stranding another year :lol:

I think there's no argument here, some users on this forum want to believe Death Stranding crashed and burned at the reviews. 85~86 is a great score, better than Good and closer to Great in terms of school-style grading system. CT gave examples of 2 prominent games that got a lot of 'positive' coverage on this forum which were reviewed worse than Death Stranding.

I wonder if this was releasing on PC day and date, if the reception would be different here

You sound like this guy who also seems to be suffering from a superiority complex

Death Stranding's mix of horror, quiet exploration and unique storytelling is something very different and it may not appeal to everyone. In that sense, despite playing the game for a while now, I'm still fascinated to see how the reviews play out and what the reception to the game will be. For me, this is a release that captures the solemn atmosphere of a Team Ico release or even something like Silent Hill - it's an exceptional achievement and a frankly brilliant experience.

In The Future, Hideo Kojima Says His Studio Will Make Films

For a guy who says that 70 percent of his body is made of movies, this seems like it’s a long time coming.

In a 26-minute BBC documentary on the making of Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima reveals the inevitability.

“In the future, Kojima Productions will also start making films,” Kojima said. “If a person can do one thing well, then they should be able to do anything well.”

Considering how long the cutscenes in Kojima’s games have been and how much he loves movies, it might seem odd that he hasn’t made a motion picture already.
