It's true. A guy came to my house about today with his Fiber checking device which he stuck the patch cord into. Upon asking him that why is he doing this again (as he did this before when splicing) he told me that this time he's checking the fiber cable all the way to the FDH cabinet and not just the DP boxes in those square holes in the ground.

He told me that the connection would be active on Monday and that a couple of guys will drop by monday morning to configure the ONT. Currently, the Link and Auth lights are both on along with the Internet light but I still don't have working Internet. I suppose it'll work once they come and configure the ONT. So, all in all, the ONT just needs some configuring and that'll be that (Hopefully). Everything else is done and dealt with.

Complain here and put Provision of Services as complaint nature. Do it now and you'll see monday tak khud hi theek ho jayein ge.
EDIT: I forgot to put 'Provision of Services' as the reason.. I think I chose disruption in broadband.

I don't know any names though.. Anyway, complaint registered. If this doesn't work, nothing will.

Funny thing happened though. Just as I clicked Submit, my internet disconnected :tv: It had been stable (at 1mb) for the past 3 hours.

Ugh PTCL came to replace my modem and screwed even more things up. Due to them installing a new VDSL modem, the Smart TV is no longer working. As soon as the tech guy left I called him back to come fix the TV. He promised he'd return after Jumah but has since been ignoring my texts and calls. So now I'm sitting without a TV.

Does anyone here know how to configure Smart TV with a new VDSL modem? I called 1218 and the guy tried talking me through the steps but halfway through the call I could tell he was reading a script and had no idea what he was saying. Long story short, it didn't work. If anyone can help me configure it, I'd be very grateful.
Just wait for someone with VDSL and SmartTV to pop up here and ask for a screenshot of their configuration page.

One of the LAN ports from your new modem will have to be configured in bridge mode for the SmartTV box to connect.

That's what the call center guy was trying to get me to do and it didn't work. Shortly after my last post, I got a text from the PTCL guy saying he's working on it. My guess is that the VDSL modem has to be registered at the back end as well. I vaguely recall him having my last modem registered for Smart TV etc last year as well. So maybe he forgot to do that and unless that's done, no configuration will work on my end.

But sigh. If it's not one thing it's the other. I spoke to Nayatel today and will get back to them on Monday. As soon as offices reopen after Eid, I'm done with this company.

haha yaar thora sa intezar kar lo sab kuch theek ho jaiga i am also eagerly waiting for fiber also.

3rd day of little to no internet connectivity. Also, no one from the fiber team has shown up for any testing. ONT gets returned on Monday, after receiving a few blows from a hammer.

you have waited for so long please wait a few more weeks i remember you told us here on this forum you will get fiber in February but we cant trust ptcl

Dear All,

I just want to ask, is PTCL smart TV worth subscribing for ??? Are there any HD channels on it.
Not worth it at all. Terrible quality, it used to stutter and lag for me with GPON and none of the channels are actually HD.

Is Transworld TV any good ???
I have ordered Transworld’s iptv. It will be installed this week. Information that i have gathered though their UAN is that there are a total of 220 channels out which 105+ HD channels. Connection is through ethernet cable or wifi (ethernet is recommended). They allocate 2mbps for each iptv box beside your internet connection speed. Their iptv box is android based with 4k output. For channels you have to call UAN.

Currently I’m using Stormfiber’s tv. Quality is amazing. Their box is connected to the ONT via optical cable (not ethernet). Total and HD channel numbers are same as TES’ i guess, haven’t counted. Few channels are different between Storm and tes. If you want i’ll take pics of their channel list (both tes and stormfiber) and paste a link here.

There is one thing i don’t get, on stormfiber the optical speed for tv is shown as 6875kbps. While in transworld they say 2mbps. I don’t know how it works but the speed difference is alot. How will transworld handle 1080p at 2mbps?

It's a scam same as PTCL , they also allocate 2mbps for their SDtv, how TES claiming HD output with such bandwidth ? Totally BS !!!

Storm fiber has tvnation which is dedicated HDTV company and they are also upgrading to something fully HDTV, website has the details

I'd always take TVnation but let's wait and watch

After some discussion with [MENTION=135603]AzizUrRehman[/MENTION] it turns out, MSAGs aren't designed for FTTH. They can be retrofitted with the equipment that allows the use of FTTH, but that's only done in rare cases.

The proper way of deploying FTTH in an area would be through the use of FDH cabinets, like what's happening in Wah right now.

And 300 meters is no problem at all. I'm further than that from my MSAG and my FTTH line works fine.... usually.

Went to the exchange. As expected my number was nowhere in their list (first 80 connections) even though I applied within a day.

Told them to get their stuff out of my home today because otherwise I'll be removing it myself and it 'might get damaged'.

With all the delays happening in your area, it's quite possible other people may have given the linemen / installation guys some 'chai pani' or a nice crisp blue note straight out of an ATM to 'speed things up'.

Told them to get their stuff out of my home today because otherwise I'll be removing it myself and it 'might get damaged'.
Hopefully in your case they feel threatened by that and you might get yours done today.

They should atleast start providing the connections (installing the cable and other equipment) to other areas as well without 'activating' them as that seems to be causing huge delays.
