They are expanding their GPON network at rapid speeds (they are getting annoyed by all the FTH companies) . I was told that by the end of 2017 majority or at least bigger / posh area`s of Karachi would be covered by GPON (i had a meeting with Operations Manager PTCL when apply for a VDSL connection in my area)

Bro i was only told about POSH Area`s like Some parts of DHA / PECHS / Karsaaz / Jauhar etc. They have no time frame. Just a blanket statement i.e it`ll available in late 2017
Edit : I would strong recommend that until then you apply for a local cable connection i.e Connect. A lot of people at my office use it and are very satisfied (though the quality depends upon your area`s dealer)
For those of you who have solid proof (pics, or anything) that PTCL is expanding it's GPON network in a certain area, or if you know an area where GPON is currently available, let me know, I'm compiling a list for the Fiber ISPs thread and PTCL has no known coverage map for GPON ready locations.

I used to get 160ish on EU servers at certain times a month or so ago. I am actually level 69 in BF1. But things have taken a turn for the worse recently. Sadly there are no Singapore servers in BF1 (as far as I know).

Was your ping the same before you got a static IP? Can you check your ping in BF1 EU Conquest servers? I was getting 170 on Dota2 EUWest servers last night.

I don't remember as i have been using static ip ever since i moved to ONU, thats more then 4 years now. I used to play a lot WoW (World of Warcraft) and i remember ping was one of my biggest issues along with regular DC's.
Although i no longer play WoW, i regularly play Guild Wars 2 on an EU server (Nederlands) and my ping is ~180ms.
Sorry can't check BF1 as i don't own it but i was playing BF4 last night and i was getting 183ms on a naval strike map. I am from Lahore so i will generally have higher pings then you in karachi.
EDIT: Its worth mentioning that my pings did increase by 20-30ms back in early 2016 when PTCL started blocking most porn sites, i think it was bad routing but complaining over and over it got back to normal, well atleast for me.

Yes it can, as far as I know. Some say that the 119.x.x.x IPs are badly affected, and it's a curse to ever get assigned one of those. I have rarely seen them on DSL, more often on Evo/CharJi. However, routing on 182.x and 39.x can be different. Not always the case, but possible.
You can complain, but the PTCLCares guy usually doesn't understand technical stuff like this, so your only choice is to cry and scream until someone with knowledge regarding these things calls you back and asks if it's okay now.
I say this because last year or so (before I got GPON), I had made countless complaints regarding pings and routing, and eventually one day, I got a call from their NOC (in H-9), and the guy asked questions about Valve and whatnot, and asked me to check pings while on the phone with him, once he confirmed they were okay, he marked the complaint as solved and pings were fine after that.
I'm not sure if all the 39.x.x.x IPs are affected, but I'm on 39.40.x.x and things are fine. You on 39.50.x.x and 39.60.x.x are facing issues, which is quite odd. I'm not sure if my having GPON can have so much of a difference here, I doubt it. How are your pings towards Valve's EU servers? Even though Valve and EA servers have no link between them, whenever my pings towards EU Valve are high, my pings towards EU are high generally, including BF4/BF1, however when pings to EU Valve are low, then pings in BF4/BF1 are also low, as they are right now for me.
As far as I know, the GPON coverage is limited to buildings. Our building had a fiber coming to it already so it was easy to get the connection.
About the pings... I had been seeing 250+ pings to EUW servers in dota for the past month or so.. However last night, from the 182 series IP, I got 170 ms ping. Right now, its 260ms again from a 39.50 series IP. Don't know what to do. This is unacceptable.
That's really weird. I'm on 39.40 and pings to Valve EUW are 155-160 ms.

Yeah. 8Mb users would eat through 300GB pretty fast. That is the policy, but it IS PTCL so they'll probably do saste kaam in this regard.

EUW Valve is bad, so now generally all ping towards EU servers is crap. Battlefield was laggy today, and ping was around 300 ms in TDM and Rush (sorry not a conquest fan lol).
Just yesterday it was fine though, they keep changing the routing.

Dota2:
200ms Dubai (usually 60)
284ms EUW
150ms SEA (usually 110. 99 when perfect)
BF1:
260ms 24P servers
330ms 64P servers
182 series IP right now.
Just proves that routing is either really different on the 182 pool, or your line must be really crap, because DXB is 60 for me, EUW is around the same that you're getting, and SEA is around 95-100.
However, on BF4, I'm getting around 280-300 in EU servers.
As usual, still on 39.40.x.x

Yes and they are permanently throatling most file sharing services, i can't seem to get over 400KB/s on rapidgator . net no matter whatever the time, this with a premium account.
