Need info about Kidney Transplant in Pakistan (Urgent)

Salam Everyone i need info about Kidney Transplant...My cousin who is 24 had kidney failure(creatinine levels very high).She was admitted in Ittefaq hospital Lahore some days back and Doctors

said that she needs kidney transplant and told us that we should take her to Karachi and today morning her siblings(one of them is the donor) took her to Karachi for transplant and they are so

confused about it...They are saying that Hospital in karachi which the doctors of lahore recommended doesn't look like a promising facility and its like some below average government hospital

and staff is very careless.So can you guys tell me what they should do now? tell me about Any good hospitals for kidney Transplant in Karachi or even Islamabad?

And please tag any doctors on pg.

You may consult Doctors in Indus Hospital, they have top notch doctors on their panel.
Btw SIUT is one of the best for Kidney, you may have to work on selecting the Doctor.

SIUT is best known in this cause no parchi culture here even if you are top donar or vip. Get the patient register there and they will take care the rest.

Sorry to hear about your cousin.

I'm a doctor and have personally visited SIUT, Karachi. The doctor in lahore who advised against SIUT is either ignorant or idiot or probably a mix of both.

SIUT is THE top center for Kidney diseases in Pakistan and has received international accreditation and accolades.

Surprisingly it is totally self and donation funded therefore they do not charge even a single rupee to any one. Dr Adeeb Rizvi is a living legend who transformed an eight bed urology unit into a world class facility. Explore their facility online here .:: Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation ::.

Other Options include Armed Forces Institute of Urology ( Rawalpindi)

I would personally prefer the Department of Urology and Kidney Tranpslant at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad ( Good quality care, coordinated team effort and promising results so far)

In Lahore you should try either Department of Urology at Sheikh Zaid or Doctors Hospital.

Ittefaq hospital is not even known for treating kidney diseases so better to consult a qualified person.

Very True. I can personally verify this. Tried to get an early parchi by skipping the line and still got number 85. Had to wait for 4 hours.

No VIPs or anything else there

Not many hospitals do Kidney transplant. It is a highly sophisticated procedure with very special and dedicated post-operative care. Your opinion might be a little flawed for SIUT in the sense that there a dozen of patients there and paying particular attention to everyone is not always possible. But trust me, in terms of Kidney transplant, it has one of the best operating theater, isolated post-operative barrier nursing care which by is the most important thing to prevent graft rejection.

The only drawback is that even if you register now, it would take minimum of 9-12 months for your turn to come for kidney transplant. And no matter whoever you bribe, the process cannot be completed any way sooner. In my opinion, SIUT is the best possible place for transplant.

You are right it is indeed the best hospital for kidney transplant...i guess the family is so worried about the patient so thought that maybe they can find something better than SIUT.

Btw one of the siblings is the donor so can that 9-12 months time be reduced by this?
