I am at like 27% of the game completion, and I have done tons of side ops ...some even multiple times for GMP and materials. This game has its moments, the variety in which you can complete the missions is just amazing. Go past everything or go rip apart everything. Not only that the variety in the main missions is commendable as well.

Last mission I did was the Rescue Shabani mission, the mist valley reminded me of The Sorrow encounter I was like feeling that some spooking bastard of a boss is gonna jump out of the mist, then you proceed towards that cave which leads to that massacre site, holy shit that was some intense shit.

The complains about the world being to huge and bland, well this is no RPG or anything that you'll meet random NPCs scattered around the place. There is a thing called game design philosophy and developers ambition to go into depths to implement their vision in the most perfect sense. People should learn to appreciate such finesse, in an era cluttered with recycled content.

I have no complains about the world being too huge and bland, the game design philosophy is just perfect. I have been following Kojima since the days of MGS1, and he has always emphasized on creating a open world infiltration game. This is not open world just for the sake of being an open world, this was his vision which he implemented as he always wanted.

BTW I did that Traitors Caravan mission and got an S rank, what I did was used those tanks to kill the skulls, took me a few attempts but when I did it ... I S'ed it.

Am I the only one who doesn't feel like using any damaging weapons?

I am still using the old fashioned no-kills stealth approach in every mission.

:D Same. I hate it when I have to kill someone.

I always feel like that during the start of the mission. But if I screw up a lot, I just say "Fuck it", go in guns blazing. :p

Yep same goes for me. If things go wrong I just restart from the last Checkpoint. Tranq Sniper and the Tranq pistol.

yeah Ive been wondering about this particular bit; what elements of the mission get reset when you restart from a checkpoint? I notice ammo and maybe soldier positions/alert levels remain same. I usually restart the mission once I learn what needs to be done.

Oh and I just cleared that annoying Emmrich mission where you have to loose the metalgear rex in one go! kept hiding and hiding... I thought the bastard would eventually go away or something but noooo...

When you restart, I guess nothing changes. Even the enemies which you have marked, stay highlighted on the map. Sometimes I have noticed that the ranks of the patrol soldiers change, like say you found one A ranked guy near the outpost and if you restart from a cp that guy might not have the same rank.

Oh the Huey Emmerich mission, I climbed upto that pyramid or whatever that lab was and I saw from the vents the Peace Walker AI placed in the room and then it was all nostalgia from there. If anyone else might have played Peace Walker here, they would understand this. They did even pay homage to it as Snake entered the room and the AI identified Snake as well. I can't say if this was the AI which was on the Peace Walker or some other version of it, as you know what happened to Peace Walker at the end. Hope to see them opening up about this as the story progress.

Exactly my thoughts. Every open world game doesn't have to follow the paradigms set out by Rockstar. Northern Kabul and Angola are both depicted as abandoned, war-torn military zones. Having these regions populated with random NPCs just wouldn't have made sense to begin with. The open world is great because it gives you the opportunity to approach and infiltrate an enemy base via multiple routes.

open world gives real feels of afghanistan and africa jungles really nice

i think kojima liked farcry some touches are there and i also feel some touches of splinter cell

some routes makes game so easy getting familiar with the base has its own rewards becuz if you penetrate from there you can even finish mission in 5 -6 mins

A- I is superb but game has no touch of previous games

but after playing this game its very hard for me to play previous ones

I'm curious, Would you guys rather keep MGS V the way it is now or if you had the ability make it more like the previous Metal Gears or at the very least make the story a little bit more fleshed out at the expense of some of those gameplay bits?

This game has been on my mind constantly for over month now even after I've finished playing it and I just don't know what to feel about it tbh.

This game has, despite it's flaws some of the best game play not just in a MGS game but in any game ever. If only it was on par with the rest of the MGS games in story and presentation this would probably be one of the best if not THE BEST game of all time. It feels like such a miss fire on the story front that it's ruining everything else for me too. :/

Gizmo - Honestly, I feel like the ratio of gameplay and cutscenes is perfect and the gameplay itself is exquisite. Like I've lost 10 hours of playtime and I'm not even mad because I know that I can very easily cover that time back up since I know how all the missions play out and can make use of different techniques to beat stuff. More games need to allow this level of openness to their game design.

In terms of story I just finished Chapter 1 before the save corruption but there were adequate levels of cutscenes between episodes 26~31 and I'm actually glad that Kojima dialled down the cutscene level, honestly. :p

The barren and abandoned world does make sense but willingly putting snake a thousand meters away from an objective kinda makes it extremely boring at times ... You are also right that the opennes of the game adds up alot to the infiltration choices but snakes placement at the start of some missions could have been done more effectively. I'm in no way implying that it's a game breaker but it's a chore nonetheless.

The gameplay was indeed great. Easily the best in an MGS game and some of the best I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It is still in my mind and just the other day, I started up MGSV again and did some side ops just for the fun of it. I wouldn't change the open world setting.

If only the game had a more meaty story which was evenly spread out across the missions with Big Boss talking a lot more and with a full filling and not so short ending, I would have loved this game a lot more.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
