Salam.. and Jashn-e-Aazadi Mubarak..(bow)

Bros atlast my psu silverstone zeus 650w has passed away from this world :crying: it has stopped working, i have just checked my system with another PSU, so diagnosis has been done my psu is at fault.

now I want to ask, can i get it repaired..? no matter for a short time?

and 2ndly which new PSU should I buy..?

my system specs are

- core i5 2310
- gigabyte b75m-d3h
- 4gb single stick (may upgrade to 2x4gb)
- 2tb segate Hdd (may get another hdd, either ssd or smaller hdd for OS only)
- Sony DVD writer
- MSI gtx660 2gb

since I dont intend to upgrade my GPU in near future and this gpu gtx660 only consumes +/-150watts, so suggest according to my needs.

one of my frd suggested me Xigmatek Tauro 600watt with 36ampere at Single rail, from IMX
Xigmatek Tauro 600W 230V Power Supply 80+ Bronze Certified

but what if i get Xigmatek Tauro 500watt with 32amperes, from IMX and save 1300rs?
Xigmatek Tauro 500W 230V Power Supply

since i am not going to get another gpu for SLI, nor want to upgrade this gpu in near future.
so kindly suggest me which is best for my current needs.
Thanks

Tauro 500W is enough for your needs. So if you want to save a lil money then tauro 500W otherwise tauro 600W.

500 watts is more than what you need for 660.
In the event of an upgrade,, Even 670/770 would work fine but you wont be having any safety margin. in that case 600 watts would be recommended..

500 watt is enough

however, if you afford then get 600 watt for safe side, for future, so you comfortably add more fans, hardware, etc........

I'd buy the 600watt psu if i were you, you see psu's tend to degrade as time goes by, decreasing their power potency, SO 600W would be 'future friendly' for you.

A 600w will also be good for you for the reason one never knows about his mindset, suppose a killer gpu comes in the market after 5-6 months, you fall in love with it, decide to sell your present gpu and buy the killer gpu, but then you find out that it requires a minimum of 550w-600w psu then you are stuck, you'll then also have to sell your psu and buy another psu. They call it 'double jeopardy' in Law, meaning you'll have to do double kharcha.

As for your other querry, yes psu's can be repaired, i'd have advised you of Galaxy but you live in Hyderabad.

thanks bro, i got the point, saving 1300rs now would cost me more in future if i ever want to upgrade.

umm... and i can get it repaired in local market if its not much of kharcha in repairing.

anywayz... lets see..

and thanks for everyone.

Unfortunately, (true) high quality PSU are too expensive in local markets.

Therefore, Xigmatek Tauro 600W shall serve your needs.

Tauro 500W would be more than enough and also electrically efficient as PSUs are at their max efficiency when loaded at 50% of their max power even though 80+ units are already so much power efficient.
As for the upgrade option, you can easily observe that newer GPUs or CPUs built on smaller manufacturing processes tend to consume lesser energy than the previous generation and even if you want to upgrade your processor to, say, an i7 3770 (77W TDP) and your GPU to something like a GTX 780 ( 250W TDP), with 32 amps on the 12V rail, you still have 32x12=384W, which is more than enough (77+250=327<384).

Generall bro then what about other components? does a sata hdd consumes power from 12v rail? and if i put 2-3 fans and a 2nd ram and a 2nd hdd, what will be total wattage at 12v 5v and 3.3v rails? remember my i5 2310s TDP is 95w. so if i upgrad to 3rd or 4th gen, then TDP wil drop to like 84 etc.

A SATA HDD can draw power from both 5V and the 12V, but for the sake of simplicity, it can be assumed that it draws only from the +12V. It depends on the size and the RPM of the fan being installed on how much power will it consume/how much current it draws (from the 12V) which is usually written on the fan. So, if you've a 95W i5 2310, a 250W GTX 780, 2 HDDs drawing 3A from 12V = 36W (on start-up, peak power-on current), 3 fans drawing 2A each consuming 6W, you have 95+250+36+6=387W. Yeah, I was wrong, you definitely should go for the 600W. (If you DO plan to get 'THE GTX 780' )
