Im having this wierd issue on my ptcl broadband.

On my phone , on 3g i get about 5mbps( proven with speedtest). it streams 720p video just fine on youtube and google play app store downloads and updates are lightning fast.

On my home internet, ptcl broadband 12mb ( on speedtests i get 10.5-11 mbps ) everything else is fine, torrents are downloading at 900-1100 kbps but youtube and play store are abnormally slow. Youtube loads pages fine, but i cannot stream 480p without waiting/constant buffering and small google play store downloads take minutes. ( a google drive update takes 30 secs on 3g but on my supposedly FASTER landline it takes 10 minutes. )

I have a ptcl 8mb connection and this happens to me too. Everything else works fine but youtube never works that great, videos take forever to buffer.

Does YouTube stream slowly only on Android or on PC too?
If the slow download and constant buffering only happen on your phone, clear data and cache for Google Play Store and YouTube.
Change DNS to OpenDNS, then try using the apps again.
YouTube and Play Store load perfectly fine on PTCL 8Mbps for me.

Using Auto DNS, Google DNS or OpenDNS?

Open works the best for me, on both Android and PC.
currently using auto.

regarding dns, to my knowledge the dns should not be making a difference in the speed anyway. Its just a translation service, no data is sourced from it.

Im writing this at 2.30 am and still youtube cant play at 480p without buffering. However 360p has started to work now.( kinda )

Auto sucks.
I thought DNS made no difference as well but it does.
In some other thread a member had explained how a DNS can get you connected to a better 'server' on YouTube and hence the video loads faster.
Try it out.
Set OpenDNS.
Type this in cmd:
ipconfig /flushdns

Clear cache on your browser.
Load YouTube. See if it makes a difference.
Wtf is openDns?

How did you switch to OpenDNS? Did you create a account and everything or did you just change your router settings?

You can either change it from the router settings, that way all devices connected will use OpenDNS as the resolver.

Or you can do it separately to each device, through network settings.

The Primary DNS is 208.67.222.222 and the Secondary is 208.67.220.220
Log into PTCL modem, click Advanced, then DNS, enter the primary and secondary. Save and Apply settings.
Re-connect on any devices and try loading YouTube after clearing cache.

As I am writing this post, YouTube is open in 2 different tabs, both the videos have loaded fully (on 720p btw) and I opened the tabs a few seconds ago.

I already know how to do it through the local settings, but i checked my router and the only place where it mentions DNS is under LAN setup. This feels a bit wrong, should it not be under WAN?

No it shouldn't be under WAN.

In the same DNS fields in your screenshot replace Primary and Secondary DNS with the ones I posted.

No luck. I changed it to both google then open dns, and im still getting crap speeds. I tried opening yewtube through zalmos and proxfree proxies and they stream at 1080p , no buffering just fine.

Denfinately some sort of ptcl throttling but this throttling is 24/7
