PTA Didn’t Ban Us, We will Soon Sell Smartphones in Pakistan: Xiaomi
After the recent misadventures of XiaomiPK.com — and the way media projected it — Xiaomi Inc. has shown its intent to sell its smartphones in Pakistan.

For those who don’t know, PTA had asked a privately owned ecommerce store (XiaomiPK.com) to not sell Xiaomi smartphones in Pakistan without getting mandatory regulatory type approvals.

Media, in response, presented the incident as if PTA blocked the sale of all Xiaomi phones altogether and put a ban on Xiaomi company in Pakistan, which clearly wasn’t the case.

PTA, in communication with ProPakistani, mentioned that anyone was free to market and sell phones in Pakistan, as long as they had the required type approvals from the authority.

Oh thanks God. I thought they were permanently banned for no apparent reason. This is a relief.

They're just trying to pacify everyone with false hope.
I doubt Xiaomi will ever get approval from PTA for 2 reasons:

1) To protect local brands, if Xiaomi is launched, QMobile and Rivo have no hope of staying alive.

2) Xiaomi phones have some features which aren't approved by PTA and I doubt they ever will be. Call recording was one of them, don't know if that's still a feature or not.

Anyway, I'm sure there's more to the story that I don't know, but either way, don't count on it happening any time soon.
