Pro-rata refunds will only be available for a limited time, however.
Microsoft will allow Xbox Live Gold members to cancel their Gold subscription once the Gold paywall for entertainment apps comes down in June.
Pro-rata refunds will be issued for those who request it and will be given based on the number of unused days remaining between the cancellation and subscription expiration date. Xbox 360 and Xbox One members who purchased a Gold subscription before the new changes are eligible and must request a refund by August 31, 2014 if they wish to do so. Free or trial Gold memberships are not eligible.
Microsoft expects refunds to process within six to eight weeks at the time of cancellation. Refunds can be requested at Contact Us once the June policy update kicks in.
