Why the hell did i buy WD passport essential.... another repugnant issue...

Facing serious issue with WD passport essential SE usb 3.0 1TB. bought it around 2 or 3 weeks ago, brand new. Now when i connect it to my pc, my pc gets hanged like hell. nothing works, i have to restart it. It's happening frequently. 5 or 6 out of 10 times it gets hanged. Today i connected it to my ps3, and guess what my ps3 got hanged. i was like damn, why the hell did i buy WD....

No virus at all, scanned it already. saved only 150 gb of data so far in it. formatted in NTFS. aNy IdEa WhAt'S wRoNg?

soon you guys will enjoy a video of a guy crashing and busting his WD with a power hammer...

Hey bro TRY THIS n tell me if it works

  1. Right-click the WD icon in the system tray (lower right) and choose "Safely remove My Passport Essential."
  2. Unplug the drive.
  3. Choose Start / Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs / Change or Remove Programs
  4. Select WD SmartWare and click "Remove."
  5. When software removal is complete, plug in MyPassport drive again.
  6. Go through automated software installation process. DO NOT click the update button. Use the original version of the software as is.

hmm maybe your WD HDD driver got messed up, try running chkdsk (file disk check) on your system drive then connect the WD passport on another usb port so a new driver is installed

Usb 3.0 hdds wont work with your ps3 unless you use a usb multi-tap with an external power source.

Good to know your problem's over... I have the exact HDD and personally am quite happy with it. But the WD software is definitely a resource hog!

i don't have wd smarware installed. does it really matter???? it works fine on my hp but slows down my dell laptop.. hp configuration is high.

it's working now :) and it works, cuz it's usb 2.0 compatible..

From what I read people everywhere suggested to avoid using it to backup files and use other software like Norton Ghost. It might not always slow down your system but it did take a long time to load and added a considerable time to the boot if left there.

    Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

    tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
