[SOLVED] What should one keep in mind before purchasing a smartphone?

Hi there! I'm not a very experienced individual when it comes to the purchasing of smartphones. Insh'Allah I'll be purchasing LG Optimus G E975 within few days, so what are the major things which I should keep in mind before purchasing the mobile? The camera, battery, display etc? It may sound awkward to most of you but yeah, I'm not experienced.

Is LG Optimus G E975 a good choice? It costs around Rs. 24,000, please have a look on the technical specifications (http://www.lg.com/hk_en/mobile-phones/lg-E975/technical-specifications)

Battery life matters the most , screen does not matter much , camera also matters alot , specs dont matter much because the dont represent the actual performance of the device, Optimus g does not have good resale value ,13 mp camera of e975 is hardly better than 8mp camera of s3 and other devices, lack of sd card slot also hurts,but on the other hand the device has a great display , fast cpu and gpu , best performance for its price,very slim and beautiful design and 32gb built in storage.i can suggest that if you want to spend money than try to get a used g pro or a xperia z in 25-27k , its your own choice , if you like optimus g more then go for it

Nowadays the phones are too much complicated that its difficult for a normal user to differentiate between original , Korean and Chinese copy so be careful when buying a phone.

How do I differentiate then?

Simple match the product code from website secondly in order to check the authenticity of phone weather it is genuine or not do install two applications from play store in the phone that your are going to buy
1) Cpuz
2) antutu benchmark
After installing the application verify the hardware from the website as simple as that

@OP: Its different for different people. If you are a youngster/student then Camera and sound quality might matter to you. If you are a professional then battery timing might be critical, and so on and so forth. theres a lot to choose from and each brand offers something exclusive.

Speaking of these LG sets some friends are using these and they're all praise for these sets. The initial batch that landed in pakistani markets went for almost 17-19k. One complaint Ive heard is weak wifi signals you have to check everything before buying.

Personally I think the overall design of the set is great for the prize. The image quality, not so much. BUT I'd take it in a heartbeat if its original and going for 17-18k...
