Want to learn Character/Game Designing

So as the title suggest, I'm taking a break from programming and coming over to the art side as i think this is important as well for game developers. But i don't know where to start. I'm thinking to use Photoshop but drawing with a mouse seems daunting. Any tips you guys can give to get myself familiar with the mouse, like should i start drawing characters/scenery directly or get myself familiar to writing with a mouse (i suck at writing with mouse) ? Also what do developers use these days? Do they still draw with the mouse or have tablets replaced mice everywhere?

Thats a really good idea to also try art side.
With my expierence as I took some art classes a digital painting sessions with Yousaf ejaz. I would say;

1. Start sketching first, get familiar with lines shapes and perspective. Draw some characters taking pictures as reference. Practice with pencil more it will make u comfortable later on with graphics tablet pen.

2. People can do drawing with mouse but that needs alot of control and some patience. I would suggest buy a simple graphics tablet, I got mine first for 5K, but if you spend more you can get a bamboo graphics tablet for 15-20K in pakistan. And everyone uses Graphics tablet in industry since its more natural flow of drawing.

3. Adobe Photoshop start with it, get familar with using its brushes and painting something very simple. First of all your hand should be in flow.

4. Practice as much as you soon.

If you need some initial video tutorials or links to where to start from. I can also send you those.

I can't get a tablet now but i will surely think of it later. As for now just want to get familiar with a mouse. And I don't mean to brag but i think i'm more or less used to with drawing with a pencil. Here is an example (used to draw anime characters often)
