Hey guys I'm from Karachi and in my final months of Intermediate studies.

Can anyone here help me out and give me a bit of info about what I should be preparing for, etc. etc. since I'm sure there are many people here that were in the same position as me in the past?

The Unis I'm looking at for CS are IBA and FAST, IBA being my top priority because of the environment there. FAST is also a good choice because the drive to the main campus is only 5mins from my house. In terms of their education system, I have absolutely no clue, which is one of the reasons I'm posting here.

My brain is full of shit atm because I'm being introduced to so many new terms like ECAT, SAT, etc. Let's say I want to get into IBA, I completely understand that I'll need to prepare for the aptitude test from a tuition center. But what's the deal with ECAT? why is there any need for giving SAT?

My final question is generally asking for more tips for people in my situation, and how should I be going about looking out for my future Uni while maintaining my grades in Inter.

Thanks!

When applying at IBA for BSCS you have two choices, either you appear for the aptitude test of the university or SAT. SAT is an international test, recognized throughout the world. These test consist of question regarding mathematics and English. I will be also applying at IBA for BSCS and I will be appearing for the aptitude test of the university, not SAT. SAT is more expensive about 11k rupees, while the aptitude test is not.
Now about ECAT. It is the short form for 'Engineering college admission test'. This test is taken by engineering universities and consist of questions from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and general knowledge.
Now back to IBA aptitude test. The syllabus of this test is same as the syllabus of SAT, so there is no need to worry. Just prepare for it accordingly and go through some past papers => Institute of Business Administration - Karachi
Honestly, there is no need to join any tuition center for IBA aptitude test. The admissions for BSCS start from May, so you have enough time.
GOOD LUCK!

Well, there are many reasons. The first reason is the distance of the university from my house, which is comparatively less. Second reason is the campus, which is huge and beautiful with good facilities. Third reason is the faculty, which is not as outstanding compared to FAST but still is highly qualified. Fourth reason is the environment; there are many events and activities held at the campus. Fifth reason is that my school teacher strongly recommends me to get admission at IBA.
There is another university with marvelous faculty and facility, Habib university. But unfortunately it is way too much expensive, 12 LACS per year! The university is new, established in 2014 but still has wide recognition among private schools. I too have applied there, and will apply for 100% scholarship. Only if get the scholarship then I will study at Habib otherwise IBA all the way. You too can apply, in fact you should. 92% of the students there are on some sort of scholarship.
I have heard about another university, DHA Suffa university. My friends say it is a good university but I am not sure.

I have met representatives from Habib many times and whenever I ask them "What grades do you require for scholarship?", they say "We don't only look at the grades, we look at the student in a holistic way" or something like. Well, whatever they say I know high grades are required to get scholarship.
I have a senior studying at Habib on 80% scholarship, all he has to do is be an active student and maintain 2.75 GPA, that's it. The scholarship he is awarded is called merit scholarship, which is awarded to 80 students from every batch and lasts 4 years. It ranges from 20% to 80% and is given to students on merit and need basis.
There is another scholarship called 'Yohsin' scholarship, which is 100% and is awarded to only 20 students from every batch. To maintain the scholarship, students have to maintain a 3.5 GPA. I think this scholarship is hard to get, because my senior was a EVERY outstanding student at our school but wasn't qualified for this scholarship.

If not the best, then definitely one of the best.

It has this weird mixture of entrepreneur-spirited self-developed students there, alumini network and industry engagement that makes it a really good avenue to technically groom yourself into a professional. The teachers may not be the best "IT faculty" but they've seen what it takes to create great software engineers. They'll point out what needs to be done.

It's like a Miagi thing, where he teaches Karate by showing how to paint fence.

Also, UBIT is cheap. Something like 40K annually or probably less. Think about the money you'll save. Probably spend it on a nice car, save for going abroad or starting up your own company!

And the worth of degree is great throughout the world. About 80% of the students are hired by top software houses when they are in their 3rd or Last year.
P.S. I have recently taken admission in KU BSSE

I am a student of 2nd year BSCS 3rd Semester EVE program and @UBIT KU and it`s degree purely depends upon on one`s skills and performance through out the year no teacher will give you extra marks like those in PVT universities it is like "you get what you pay for" :) . and the final score at the end of each semester will be your pure struggle and work ,

So if I get this right, KU is better for entrepreneurial training also? Because along with BSCS I want to have some sort of experience/knowledge as an entrepreneur as well.. which was one of my main reasons for picking IBA

IBA should still be among your top priorities.

Looks like the thread has really moved on magar I've also met their representatives a few times and gotten the same vague answers. Instead they asked me what my grades were and said fit hai, our first round is on falah dates bas apply kardo. My understanding is they have some entry test as well which they'll exempt on the basis of SAT scores

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
