Has anyone gone through "Import via Courier Service" thing on DIRBS? I recently bought a phone for a relative and the phone will arrive next week in pakistan. I want to ask how will I clear it from customs and get it PTA APPROVED? I bought many phones online before the DIRBS thing. This will be my first time clearing a phone via DIRBS. Before DIRBS, every time when the phone arrives in pakistan it gets deliver to GPO Peshawar from Karachi and then sometimes Its gets delivered to my Home address without any custom duty/tax and sometimes I receive a call and asked to come and pay the custom tax and take the phone.

No i had checked PTA Dirbs website and there you had three Registration options for individuals:
1) As International Traveler (within 60 days of Travel)
2) Via Courier Service (in this case the Courier slip is absolutely mandatory for free Approval of one device)
3) oh i forgot about third option!

You need to have the original Courier slip, and get it scanned and upload it to Dirbs system while applying for COC as an individual.

So, these days the market is full of Non-PTA approved phones. They're being bought and sold normally, which leads me to believe that the PTA crap is overhyped.

Some of the people who are using these phones have told me they receive automated calls & messages to inform them about the status of their phones, but the phones continue to work fine nonetheless.

So my question is simple. Are you using a non-approved phone? If so, how's your experience. Also, would you advise to buy non-approved phones from the market?

jo phone December 2018 sae Pehlae import hua ha aur activated ha sims per irrespective kae kaha sae aye ha woh chlain gae .new phones jo duty bahar kar nahi aye woh block ho jae gae . I called pta few days ago and they told me this . Better to buy phones from reliable source and always check imei by sms to be sure you are getting pta approved phone .
also this system has been imported from turkey .i have lived in turkey for 3 years and the dealers there could only unlock Samsung phones through some method .other company phones are out of luck .

There's no free approval for Courier arrived cell phones. I used to think this too until I read the SOPs/Explanations on FBR website. The "FREE" is only for International Traveler option. ON everything else, you have to pay the tax.

I've asked around my group of people & nobody who is using a non-approved phone has been blocked yet. Thus I've decided to risk it & continue using my phone as is.

I'll report back if it gets blocked down the road. I'll also report back if it doesn't.

I've been reading a lot on Facebook. Lots of people are getting phones blocked. They get No Service messages on iPhone and Emergency Calls Only on Android.

And the DIRBS system kinda sucks as some people are saying it takes up to 14 days after you submit the IMEI for approval, for it to get whitelisted.
People have registered their phones, the website shows status as compliant, but still no signals. They eventually come after a few days.

Well they didn't deliver it. The phone arrived in Karachi on 10 may, they sent the phone to DMO Peshawar Foreign CED on 11 may and today I received a letter/notice to acquire NOC from PTA. Now my questions is do I simply email at [email protected] or go through the DIRBS system. My main focus is to get the phone in hand first (i.e. to release it from customs) then will take care of getting it registered with PTA.
Any help would be appreciated while using the DIRBS system and while uploading the documents should I upload the commercial invoice as well because that is optional. The price of the phone on the commercial invoice is the same as mentioned on the package. Will the phone be taxed according to the price mentioned on the package or they will look for the price online because before the DIRBS system. Whenever I had to pay Custom Duty on a phone. The duty was calculated from the price declared on the package.

Customs duty is charged based on the value of the phone. You just have to mention whether it's Dual SIM or not so they know how many IMEIs to approve.

I am using non registered note 8. Got messages from pta that it will be blocked after 60 days and it is still working after 60 days. I informed the shopkeeper about the messages and he said don't worry it will not be blocked. He said many people who got their phones registered also getting these messages. He is taking full responsibility if it gets blocked.

He he can negotiate with the PTA i think he is just buying time from you better return the handset and get your money back.

he is playing you...why didnt you check online or via sms if the imei number is pta approved....i think it would be best if you return the phone and get your money back or ask him to give you a pta approved note 8 which you should check via sms or online yourself

I went there through a reliable reference and he assured me he will take full responsibility. the thing is when I bought the phone even some registered phones were getting this message by pta to register their phones, so I made this mistake, I am going to give this set back to him if it is not registered in the next 2-3 days.
But the registration fee is ridiculous, what is this govt thinking?

the tax isnt much percentage wise....but the free falling ruppe and the overall rise in prices of phones abroad is the main culprit here i think...

Hi I have MI8 which I bought last year July. PTA has blocked one of its aim slot while other is showing status as registered. I was able to get through to their helpline. The guy said that you should email to [email protected] your problem will be resolved. I kept emailing them for two weeks but they never replied. Also I could not get the call through as they would cut the call. Now I have phone with one sim slot blocked. Where as it was bought last year and I put sim in both slots last year so that it should be registered. But still one slot got blocked and other is showing registered. Does anyone know how to solve this problem with PTA.

I wanted to make complain on citizen portal app but I cannot find category where I should register complaint against PTA.

Any help would be appreciated.
