I guess its true. If your board for eg gets damaged (and no warranty) finding replacement intel boards should be easier.
The intel z370 is a dead platform, in the sense that future cpus wont be up-gradable. But again, not many actually realistically upgrade their cpus only in the future, just replace the cpu and mobo in one go.
If you can wait, as said by some before the ryzen 2/zen+ chips will release in april. Intel z390 chipset will also come maybe mid year or above, that would drive z370 prices down.
