XBOX Unreal Tournament III comes to X360 first

Midway has revealed that Unreal Tournament 3 will be released in the second half of 2007 for PC and Xbox 360 - PS3 version in 2008.

Despite appearing for some considerable time as a console exclusive on the PlayStation 3, it now looks as though the Xbox 360 will get the game first.

According to new information released today from Midway, Unreal Tournament 3 (formerly Unreal Tournament 2007) will be released in the second half of 2007 for PC and Xbox 360. PlayStation 3 owners will have to wait until 2008.

A midway rep has confirmed to Pro-G that this is not a mistake and is the latest information they have on the game's release.

Should Unreal Tournament 3 end up as a timed console exclusive on the Xbox 360, it would be great boost in its efforts to maintain and extend its lead in the next-gen console market.

After Game Informer's interview with Epic Games' Vice President, Gametrailers.com also had an interview with Mark Rein.

In the interview Rein stated the PlayStation 3 is an amazing machine with lots of power. He also thinks it's great to have a hard drive shipped with every PlayStation 3, because they can have downloadable content for Unreal Tournament 3.

Rein finds it great that everyone who owns a PlayStation 3 is capable of going online, and said, 'Sony has done a good job there'.

The reason Epic Games is pushing Unreal Tournament 3 more for PlayStation 3 is because it's their showcase for the PlayStation 3. With Unreal Tournament 3 they can show off their technology.

By the time Epic Games ships Unreal Tournament 3, the game will have amazing performance on PS3. And the game will have all the things you would expect out of a Unreal Tournament title. They are really happy with the platform.

Again Mark Rein confirmed it's too early to say anything specific about the launch. Epic Games is aiming for a late 2007 launch, but nothing can yet be said about whether the game will ship simultaneous on all platforms or not.

PS3 Unreal Tournament 3 not delayed

An erroneous Midway fact sheet has stirred up confusion over Unreal Tournament 3's release, listing the shooter's arrival on Xbox 360 and PC as Q4 2007, and on PlayStation 3 as 2008. CVG has since confirmed with Midway that UT3 is tentatively scheduled for Q4 2007 on all platforms, quickly deading rumor of a PS3 delay.

Last week, in an interview with Game Informer, Rein called UT3 the developer's "showcase title" and "poster child for PS3," concluding "we just want to focus on UT3 on PS3 to start."Today Rein chimed in on the Epic forums about UT3's release date:

"Epic (who makes this decision, NOT Midway) have absolutely NOT decided whether the SKUs for this product will be released simultaneously or in staggered order and we have absolutely NOT decided (because we don't know yet) when any of them will be released. If our publisher [distributed] information contrary to this they did so in error."

that actually kinda says nothing in either direction. he`s playing it safe , probably damage control.the no show of ps3 version at gdc will confirm this for good.

looks a pretty convincing news item to me, afterall epic are the one's making the game, their word is over Midway in this issue.
