Professional Games Education Guide

We been Dreaming Big, Way too big but lets admit Game Development is serious business and Online resources, Forums and Free ebooks can only help most committed Developers. But still a AAA game title requires 10s of Programmers, Designers, Artists, Testers etc.

So its time we seek Professional Education and do it the proper way. Its not gonna be cheap. I have seen tuition fees in range of 30,000 USD to 80,000 USD (but may be we can find some sponsors who want professional game Dev. in Pakistan :)p) )

The ultimate Resource for list of Game Dev. Colleges is:
http://www.gamecareerguide.com/schools/?sort=country

Hell! Even freakin' India got some colleges. I think Singapore, HK, Australia, Malaysia will be most affordable while still having good education standard. I got my eyes on:

Course Description: See This Attachment [EDIT: Sorry My PDF Attachment was converted to low Res JPG, Check this Link: http://shah-soft.com/saadat/Saved/GA_curriculum_tree_2008.pdf ]

I will expand on this list depending on Courses offered and affordability. Its a huge list so visit few sites and recommend me other Colleges.

There are quite a few online colleges as well But I wonder if long-distance (and expensive) education will do us any good.

So who is with me? Lets decide on something and Just Do It!

You don't need a "degree in Game development" to join the game industry. I'd suggest getting a simple Computer science degree while also building your portfolio during the course. And then you can join the game industry. (in a country where it is present)

Yar! I got 4 Year CS Degree and yeah sure I could have made into Game Biz if I was living in... well! Anywhere but Pakistan.

But since that is not the case. We are all on our own, learning things bit by bit and worst of all working independently. Most of us have to keep this as a hobby cause No one will hire us just because of our Aptitude and I bet most of us are kinda Lazy too ;)

So I say lets go out there and be part of it! FOR REAL! (y)

BTW! Sorry for spelling mistake in the Topic.

ameeshah! do you think you can do programming? I might offer you a job....which bit can you do AI? gameplay? graphics?
i mean cmon guuyz! whats wrong with you?I have been trying to ask people here since I joined (a few days ago) if they can actually do something rather then just sit there and think. do I have to give it in to the classifieds for any one to take me seriously? if I can convince the investor I will start in just about atleast 8 months. and I wouldn't be looking into pakgamers or anything else for that matter. if there ARE people on pakgamers who think they have what it takes to make big games with guidance from experienced people the TELL me.
