ok just a quick comparison of one lens used for two different purposes ...
ist shot i took with 50mm prime at 1.8f used in normal manner

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

and this shot i took same lens ... in reverse using reverse ring adaptor ... n it becomes a 50mm macro manual focus ... lol
agar ghee seedhi ungli say nahe nikalta tou ulti ungali say nikalain ;p

its not an ideal shot just a quick shot ... just to show what one can already do with exsisting things he has ...
one thing one must notice ... macro doesnt mean u have to get into the subject ... specially shooting insects n bees one has to be at a longer distance n the science here is the smaller the focal length the smaller the stand off distance ... the bee shot junaid took with 100mm macro looks so perfect cause he was at a considerable distance n had freedom to properly frame n compose his shot ... but if same shot he had taken with 50 or 60mm macro to get this kinda shot he wud be so close to subject keh bee wud have flown away ... on top a macro lens there is a macro adopter
which will surprise smjunaid especially
the following shot was taken with a 100mm macro ...
see the spoiler what all he used n he is not some professional world famous PGer ...

Google Raynox macro filters. Thats what you need. Mount your 18-55 / 18-105 in reverse using a reverse adapter (at 18) .. You should technically get 2.4 x magnification (on a crop sensor). Besides that.. Try macro tubes on the lens I gave you. My best to date combo of macro is a 90mm Tamron with an extension tube. I used it to photograph relics from Mohenjedaro. Lovely stuff - and cheap to. Baby steps remember. 28-105 at 105 is a beast. It bests the nikon 105 macro also due to closer focus. And then get a macro tube - allows even closer focus.

Sure thing. Meanwhile there are a few in the 15-18 range at Pakistan Photo, Lahore. But I know that this lens can be had for 6-7k in karachi and sometimes in lahore as well.

This should take care of your macro bug for quite a while. Remember the key to good pictures with these low cost legacy lenses is appropriate and sufficient lighting. No need to spend tons more for the same (and in this case less Image Quality) if the purpose is just product photography for the web.

On the other had do get the 35 1.8 its a must have for the Nikon crop body system - equaling a FF/FX body's 50mm.

When using a crop sensor combo - I tend to use the 35 and a 85. I infact rarely use my 50s as far as photography goes be it be crop or full frame. The good thing is that you have a nice cheap nikon afd 50. which never harms you in the bag.

I also have a slightly faulty d7000 battery grip. Remind me to bring that along or come pick that up some time after eid.

nasir bhai ... there r tons of lenses out there all worth buying n must have ...
but one should see what type of photography he is good at ... buy as per ur own expertise ...
if ill get advice from a wedding photographer he will always suggest me portrait lenses which r not a good addition as im a landscapper
if ill ask a birds photographer he will always suggest me super telephoto lenses like 400mm n 500mm ... but again i hardly that focal length
if i ask a macro photographer his suggestions wud be different ...
its good to get advice from experts but its ur own decision whether u need that focal length or not ...

so find ur own style ist n then build ur self upon it ... try to be good at one thing ... then touch other areas ... u have changed fourth body in last 3 yrs but still u have not learned the basics of camera it self n photography in general ... as Prizm said ... baby steps ...
khair enjoy eid ... go out with ur camera ... take pics ... thats the only way ull learn ... 35mm is a great lens but do u shoot portraits ... if u do n ur good at it must get it ... it has much better bokeh n u will never like anything else ...
