Quick question, What are your MRU values guys? Mine is at 1480 but my AP says the default should be set to 1500 on MTU. I read about it online and found out that they are basically the same thing. What is the PTCL's default MRU value? Also can it effect routing and the ping because i tried messing around with the value to 1500, My ping kinda increased dont know if it was due to buffer bloat or me changing the MRU value...
Spoiler: show

You can try 1492 because it basically means 1500 because 1492 + 8 bytes for PPPoE overhead.

If you face issues like packet loss you should drop down back to 1480.

APs default to 1500 because they don't do any routing.

AoA Guys. I am having a serious issue with my PTCL DSL since the last couple of months. I am having a 6MB connection with smart tv (the smart tv device remains off most of the time). I play DOTA 2 online and get frequent disconnections. The ping remains ok for a few mins, then all of a sudden game disconnects, when i check the modem, it shows connected but there is no browsing for at least 1 to two minutes or until i restart the modem. Connection gets stable after a couple of minutes. This happens every 10 to 15 minutes. The line parameters seem ok to me. I read from this forum to change modulation to G.dmt but when i uncheck other modulation options, the internet does not connect
. when i check ASDL2 and ADSL+ along with G.dmt, then the modem connects to the internet.

SNR Margin downstream 17.4, upstream 6.5
Attenuation downstream 15.5, upstream 9.8
Screenshot of modem parameters in posted here :
https://ibb.co/ftZs36x

I will be grateful if anyone can advise how to resolve this issue

Line stats seem normal. Although the screenshot is not very detailed.

The full line stats page includes a lot more data, does your modem not have that?

How long has the issue been happening for?

before I was using default 1400 set in PTCL modem but now i am using 1492 in openwrt and it is working fine

MTU affects download speeds, and not really the ping (and definitely never the bad routing).

It was more of an issue in the dialup days to ensure better flow of the packets, but doesn't significantly improve throughput on high speed connections (such as ADSL or above).

Needless to say fiber users don't need to fiddle with this

I have noticed that the SNR margin sometimes varies with time and is not permanently stable for long intervals. I am facing this issue since the last three months or so. Last night i disabled all the modulation schemes except ADSL2 and ADSL2+ and now the disconnection interval has reduced. Now getting the disconnection after about 20 mins instead of the usual 10 to 15 mins. Another issue is that sometimes the Laptop or mobile loses the wifi connection, i can see the SSID in wifi connections but it does not connect until i resart the modem.

Your SNR is very different from the earlier stats that you posted. Your line also has a very high amount of errors. Check if your landline phone is noisy or not.

Complaint about fluctuating line stats and frequent disconnections. If you can, get in touch with your lineman as well.

You probably need to replace the cable from the DP to your modem.

Guys can I opt for fast path? I've noticed my SNR margin for downstream used to be around the 70's but it has gone down recently. As you can see there's a high amount of errors but my line isn't noisy.

No you cannot because your line parameters are very weak.
SNR is very low while attenuation is very high.......
