From what I've seen and which is surprisingly weird too. Telenor 3G gives me better speed as compared to 4G.

You must be sitting on top of the tower to get such speeds. It's pretty good for Telenor to give such speeds on 5Mhz.

But man, the amount of distortions and crackling in the voice calls when I had it for 2 months... Damn.

I think you misunderstood. My phone was on 3G but the other cell was on 2G (Nokia 3310). When I try to call someone on 2G it doesn't show HD indicator.

Cuz I thought there is not a single network in pakistan that has implemented hd voice calls ..

I can't speak for Warid-originating calls, but Ufone, Zong, Mobilink-originating and Telenor on-net calls all have HD voice over 3G.

But why don't I get those hd voice calls ? My phone is i think capable , its s7 edge , also I have sim of every network too.. none of them displays hd voice indicator..

I think the later versions of samsung's UI removed the indicator. You can tell through the voice quality though, the difference is quite noticeable.

Your phone is capable. I have the Pixel 2 and it doesn't show unless you're using VoLTE (which we don't have).

Easy way to determine if the call is HD or not: does it sound like a Whatsapp or Skype call? If so, then it is. If it sounds like a desi phone call, it's not. The precondition is that BOTH callers need to be on the SAME network. Not all phones show the HD voice logo whilst on 3G.

Basically, you have to judge by sound.

Well than I can thank The Almighty One, as I am ever grateful to Him, as my phone calls are luckily so good than whatsapp calls because for me whatsapp is far more pathetic then any other regular calls in my whole life, so much crackling , crushing , like bombs , you can't hear anything, only your ears will hurt, thats whatsapp for me..

It is definitely the case. HD Voice indicator is long gone.

Only VoLTE shows in the status bar if enabled. I don't think any of us will be alive long enough to see that icon finally appear in Pakistan.

For me, Skype has been WAY more reliable than Whatsapp calls - in terms of quality, as well as the ability to actually make a call (instead of getting missed call notifications). I still use Whatsapp for messages, but whether I'm calling another Pakistani number or calling abroad, Skype has much better quality and lower latency.

Seriously, Whatsapp should just go back to messaging.

I managed to resuscitate it within my family.

But yeah - the network effect is in full swing here. iMessage peeps have an alternative. Google missed a massive opportunity with Hangouts (considering you need a Google account for Android operability, and all you had to do was do what Apple did... And you'd have a much stronger product).

But alas, I want Skype to succeed because WhatsApp calls are sub par now.

By same network you mean same operator or same network type?
