That speed is insane.

But what's more insane is that hideous LTE icon in Android P.
Yeah, many people aren't happy. But it's here to stay.

I, like many, preferred the old method (tiny text next to the signal area).

Any news regarding expansion plans of Telcos? It seems as if expansion has come to almost a standstill, particularly in KP.

Anyone having any info? Were they waiting for the new government to swear in?

90+ ones are outdoors and ~70 indoors. The thing is there's only one tower in this area so no interference or any shit.
Edit: this is indoor

Wait for few months and then there will be a time you will get this on Jazz 4G

Indeed it is.

2600 even on its own, without CA can be very useful to Jazz in big congested cities.
1800 is also good enough - I just don't know how much spectrum PTA has left in that band. And if Zong "cleans up" their 4G signals, they could give themselves a HUGE competitive advantage with 20Mhz.

But their signal isn't as clean as Mobilink's 4G is, so they won't be able to reap the full benefits everywhere (which explains why you'll be hitting 2Mbps speeds in several places despite 64QAM).

Mobilink, OTOH, would deploy antennas where
1. Their executives are complaining (the best way for them to fix their service), or
2. Where the population density in a specific radius is 80% - otherwise they don't bother (their network planning guys told me this).

What really doesn't make sense is that these idiots have 2G signals everywhere - if they repurposed 900Mhz for 4G, they
1. Would have gotten 20Mhz for 4G, and
2. Would have had better penetration everywhere, and
3. Given them a reason to launch VoLTE.

But
1. They're not tech savvy as such (I mean - customer care portal? Self care app? They churn out stupid apps but can't produce a single piece of software that even Ufone and PTCL have)
2. Say 3G is old and are focusing on getting their customers onto 4G - yet, they're increasing 3G coverage/antennas, and
3. Are the dominant operator so they can do whatever the hell they want to (a la PTCL).

I don't think their speeds will go low because their signals are clean (their RSRQ is always very, very, very good - even indoor - unlike Zong's) and no operator seems to be facing a spectrum crunch either - it's their antenna deployment and maintenance which determines the signal reach. My major qualm with Mobilink is that they're not fixing 4G coverage in their existing cities and I doubt they'll launch VoLTE given their rollout strategy.

Unless, of course, another operator beats them to the punch. Which I'm hoping somebody does so that I can stop relying on the airwaves to place calls.

I just don't know which operator would. This source is quite confident Zong won't since they're apparently not working towards that, and Telenor will since they've been looking into this for much longer than Mobilink has... But nope. Nothing happening right now.

Speaking of signal quality/RSRQ/SNR, anyone with an active Telenor SIM care to tell us how their lame, crass and cheesy ad campaign pushing people to "upgrade to Telenor 4G speed" (cringe) is coming along? Any improvement in their performance (calls, data) since Nokia took over the reigns of their network?

Telenor's network has always been crap for me, zong's 4g is chocked everywhere, jazz doesn't have very good 4g coverage but their customer support takes all the numbers
