As you guys know that Mobilink and Warid have been merged. I have been using Warid since 2013 and quite satisfied but now as they have started to integrate their networks, i have getting a weird problem. My balance get deducted multiple times in day and night and the charges are for LTE which is 1.195rs each time.

I called Warid helpline and they said that there is something wrong with your phone. I checked and no app is using the data and there is 0KB data transferred. I never had my mobile data on for past 1.5 months. He also suggested to activate any mobile internet package which i did after so much annoyance and opt for a weekly package. Then deduction stopped. But now after week when the package stopped that deduction started again. I don't know what to do.

I am thinking to shift to Zong because i also never get 4G signals inside my house. But my heart says to wait for their network integration maybe this problem will be resolved.

Is this kind of thing happening to someone else here too? Please suggest what should i do? Thank you

Replace your Warid sim today from Warid office. You will get Jazz+Warid sim but in reality you will be ported to Jazz and will start getting Jazz services I suppose. So try replace sim because you either have to replace in coming days. Otherwise Zong is always there.

Check out the number plate of old car. Zong is clearly hitting Jazz+Warid. You might get any meaning of this Zong's take. But What I assume is that Zong think itself a data King, and consider only Jazz as its competitor, No Telenor.

yar everything is all right, the speed is rocket fast but data ends so fast on zong which is hard to believe

Why telenor stopped 3g coverage expansion?

Cause it's crap.

Also, in KPK, doesn't matter whether you have 2 bars or full bars. Speed is the same shit.
This is why Telenor sucks.

Thanks - typing it out was even more painful, but in the end, I realized Telenor's 3G isn't inherently bad, but it's bad because of the SNR issues (notwithstanding areas which are inherently choked). They can only improve SNR by setting up more towers (which looks like what they're doing - a hunch).

I just tested Youtube on Telenor 3G (720p) and 4G (1080p). Long story short: it streamed, without buffering (in fact, it buffered much faster than I was watching the video). Good to see 1080 streams without a hitch, at my house, with pathetic 4G signals. No sign of throttling in Gulrez, at least, in this hell hole.

Spoiler: show
Slightly longer story: I left the phone on my bed (3G), signals were -83dBm. Youtube didn't stream (it buffered). Moved the phone about, didn't stream. Quality eventually fell to 144p. Then took it to another spot in my room where I last did a speedtest (with decent results), and toggled it to 720p. The video streamed, and buffered in advance as well. Speeds hovered between 450KB and 650KB (IIRC). The signal at this area: -81dBm (average). Not much change in the signal strength, but I'm sure the quality (SNR) improved considerably at this specific spot. Enter 4G: signal was around -112dBm, and it still streamed - on 1080p (which is meant to take more bandwidth - I think download speeds were between 700KB to 800KB, but I didn't pay too much attention since I was happy Youtube was streaming).

Boy, do I love these spoiler tags!

I'm going to take the plunge and port to Telenor for two months. I'll test their 4G as well (I'm sure coverage isn't good at all). The djuice plans linked earlier is what I'm going to use (so I'll be saving money during the testing phase). I'm just dreading the thought of going to their service center and waiting for ~1 hour for my turn. And since there aren't many people here using Telenor, at least somebody would be able to share the experiences. After two months, I can easily port back to Mobilink if I'm unhappy.

As for everyone else who are getting sucky speeds on Mobilink (or Zong - or ANY network except Ufone), try changing the location of the phone inside your homes/offices/whatever, and try again. It's confirmed wireless tech is susceptible to this issue (I've tested this EXTENSIVELY on both Zong and Telenor, as well as Qubee when I had it - but didn't realize it then), and I'm 100% certain Mobilink is no different (@zafarabbasrizvi used a bamboo to stick an antenna, and his speeds jumped considerably, but indoors, he didn't get good results - on Mobilink). It's difficult to read the signal quality levels on 3G, but you can easily do so on 4G. For Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Mobilink doesn't have great indoor 3G coverage everywhere (they've admitted themselves when I complained), but outdoors, you shouldn't have an issue. You should see the speeds in London - their 3G is worse than ours due to distortion, but 4G is much better (approx. 10 Mbps flat on Giffgaff) since signal aberrations in 4G/newer technologies are less (but exist nonetheless) than on 3G-level tech.

Wish me luck! I just hope I don't regret it from day 5 like I did back in 2015 (but I used Telenor then for different reasons).

I see something in that screenshot: remember how Khan1 used to complain about Zong not working well in Abbottabad? His speed test result graph and yours are similar - see how the lines are not static, but fluctuating? It looks like speeds were high in the start, then fell, and then there's a lot of fluctuation, right? Upload speeds seem to suffer as well.

Also, try going near the tower and see if the speeds improve.

I know it can get frustrating when you don't get a constant result. Trust me. Be glad you have some internet!

I'm glad I'm leaving now, got my Mobilink 3G back and this is what I'm getting:

Telenor has never and probably will never perform well for me. Back when 3G was newly launched by Telenor, I used to get 3-4 bars in my room and a consistent 10-12 Mbps, so I still don't feel the SNR or signal quality or anything is affecting their speeds, it's just the fact that they f*cked up in the first auction and this is the result of it.

Today is billing date so it will be refreshed.. Secondly they enhance your credit limit if u pay your bill in time... I paid 2500 and my credit limit is 4000 :)

They update the bills a number of times during the day, so if it's zero at one point, it'll eventually update.

I honestly couldn't be more confused.

Yeah, they don't have as much spectrum as the rest, so they build more towers to compensate for the shortage. But they don't build more towers in the open either.

And if your tower is congested, well - too bad. They just have to build more towers in that area to offload the traffic onto other cells.

I decided to test Mobilink 3G at the Faw showroom (close to the Suzuki showroom) on GT Road. I've tried to capture
- the speedtest speed
- the speedometer, and
- the signal strength.

I tested again at another place in Gulrez, where signal strength hovered around -79dBm, and got this:

And right before that test, I got this result:

After moving the phone a little bit inside the car:

All tests are on Mobilink 3G.

See! Even Mobilink hasn't been spared from the interference. They do, however, have adequate spectrum to cater to a higher number of users for a cell, but also have adequate backhaul provisioned, so the results will be better (however, Zong's 3G is also getting bogged down as well... I feel it's because Mobilink is the only operator to throttle prepaid users and give full bandwidth to postpaid users, whereas the others share bandwidth equally).
