Today i went to mobilink franchise in pwd rawalpindi with my friend. My friend wanted to convert his no to postpaid and wanted bb services. They said that bb services are not available for new customers. Is it true? Or should he check from main office?

They don't give it to new customers easily.
Especially not franchises.

If you go to the main office, you may need to negotiate a bit even then.

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1772311298

So since the Indian servers were giving me speeds around 0.2 Kbps, I decided to use another country's server.

Here's Beeline in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This was the highest I managed to get, and it's the best performing server in Tashkent that I tested.

If only I could somehow get access to the du Dubai server, then that would be a level playing test, but I can't :/ for now, this will have to do.

Considering my Nayatel is 7 Mbps down (evenings), this is decent when out and about. Speed tests to Pakistani servers (NOT on Zong's servers) were hitting 14 - 20 Mbps depending on the location (opposite PC in Saddar, Rawalpindi, was the slowest), and I think that's perfectly fine.

The internet pipes aren't "friendly" at all times - and with the Speed test app, it's becoming tougher to find a server of your choice (on the Android app) to do a test on.

But - I guess I'm alright with Zong. I don't torrent, so...

Can some of you hitting 18+ on Mobilink do a test using the Tashkent server (make sure it's Beeline since the others are slower)? Hopefully the Karachiites would see the server in their apps.

I can't see servers from UAE either.

Only Tashkent and India.

The only way to do it is make a hotspot, open speedtest.net on the PC, choose UAE server on the website and do a speedtest there.

Don't know why the UAE server option shows on iPhone and not Android.

I thought I'd tether - but where I sit in my office, cause of the concrete and metal structures, the speeds aren't very high.

Where I USED to sit, the speeds were much better.

I'll have to figure something out.

For all those people who are having problems getting a fixed location in speedtest.net app, turn GPS on.

Well - I don't have GPS on, but I do have location (via wifi access points) services enabled.

I'll try the GPS method tomorrow though and see if it makes a difference.
