Sound & Vision Lavish Praise Upon PS3

A ton of you have called the PS3 out as a games console lumped with a Blu-Ray player, but what if you came at it from the other way? What if you saw the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player lumped with some gaming capabilities, do you think you'd look at the PS3 a little differently?
Sound & VIsion Magazine did, as they've just awarded the PS3 one of their 2006 Editors' Choice Awards, despite the fact they openly approached the system as non-gamers:

Sony's multimedia wonder is all good. Not only does it deliver picture and sound quality on par with the other Blu-ray Disc players on the market, its speedy Cell processor gives it an ergonomic edge by enabling the player to quickly load discs and scan menu items. The PS3's built-in Dolby TrueHD decoding, HDMI 1.3 output, and Ethernet port also offer comfort that your hard-earned dollars aren't being spent on a product that will soon become obsolete.

The only downside? No online multiplayer for the Japanese version of MotorStorm......oh, that and some "more flexible video-scaling" options would have been nice. So there you have it, if you don't like games, the PS3 is a snappy purchase (oh, the irony is overwhelming). Then again, if you don't like games, what the hell are you doing here? interesting way to look at it..but still if the price drops atleast 100 to 150$ then the PS may again kick everyones asses as it did in the last two generations of gaming

its selling less then psp in japan because there's no f*ckin game out for it this year at all, but in the US its outsold the 360 in the same period of time, and thats where the thread delivers.

so you agree , gamers arent buying it (no games) and the casuals arent buying it at all (no interest despite what this article suggests)
if no one's buying it when there must be some really good robbers in japan no ? i dont see what you try to prove every time you make the "its not selling in japan" statement radd, its obviously selling, and even then its selling without any good games in the market, and its the 4th highest selling console weekly in japan. Whats the point really ?

actually yeah i'd say its the 4th highest selling console (im not talking overall smarty, im talking on a weekly basis) the ps2 and ps3 often switch places, and the fact remains that even though the 'good' games are still a ways off the console is selling respectably. You saw how blue dragon boosted 360's sales in JAPAN like 300% or so the first 2 or so weeks it came out, expect a much bigger replay of that for the first good PS3 game.
