slow speed from Steam

I am downloading Team Fortress 2 from steam website with steam software but I am getting only 125KB/s while my regular internet speed 512KB/s. can you guys tell me how to get good speed or is there no way to do something about it?
can I download it via IDM and then add it to my steam account?

I have downloaded 93% and now I am getting 1.6KB/s speed. what do I do?

Of course there's always a way to resolve any problem.
What's your current download location? I usually get a good speed from EU servers (France, The Netherlands, Germany, Swizz and etc). What are yours?

Yes you can do this, but in that case you still have to download/update binary files, it'll require some 1GB of bandwidth.

Styles I don't know where I am downloading from (I mean which server I am downloading from)
If I can change the server my speed can be better right? I also get good speed from EU servers but it's not giving me full speed.
You can give me fileserve, rapidshare, megaupload or filesonic link I have all premium accounts but the thing is I want permanent solution so I can download other games without this problem.

Maybe your download location were auto-assigned to some crappy servers? Just avoid American servers, South Americans specially (BRAzilian and such).
FYI, it's not their (VALVe/Steam) fault. Not at all..

layfon. You can check it from option>sync and download tab. See and reply back.
Almost all games on steam are uploaded at some file-hosting-sites. That'd the PERMANENT solution I believe.

Just ask me and I'll provide you links and/or possibly that site which is updated on regular basis, on hour basis I should say.

Edit:
download from here, download all parts use hjsplit to extract them at one place copy from where you extracted all contents and materials and paste into your steamapps folder restart Steam and you're done.

When you restart it'll validate it'll only take from 200mb to 300 approximately doesn't mean that it is downloading all 8gb files it's just a requirement.

Change your download region to Nethersland or something else, keep changing, atleast one would work and give you good speeds. Though, because of F2P, tf2 is quite heavily downloaded, so you might not get full speed.

which game r u downloading ?
i can tell u a fast way... what i do is download the game of the torrents on full speed... Install the game in the steam/common folder but make sure that steam has already made the folder for the game... so install the game in that folder.... STEAM SHOULD BE OFF DURING THIS TIME.... this is essential... then start up steam, click on the game in the library... go to its properties and click on verify game files.... it will download some files and ur game will be good to go...
