Hello PG

New member here. Been reading the forums for a while but never needed to post until now so here i am.

My old VGA card died on me so i was in the market for a new one. I decided on the Asus 6850. Galaxy Computers did not seem to have Asus cards so after a little searching i came across ShingTech. Now, what i find funny is the contradicting informaiton about these guys on the internet. Firstly, it says on their Pak site (Welcome to largest IT distributor in the country, Shing Technologies Inc) that they have offices in Taiwan, Dubai and Singapore, but a Google search is not coming up with any ShingTech sites in those countries. And their global site (http://www.shingtech.com/) seems to be down since god knows how long. Secondly, i went to their office/outlet here in Karachi, the one at Gizri. They are based inside a house, have vans with their brand logos on them and everything, legit enough, BUT on their bills and warranty cards it says ShingCare, not Tech, while their website clearly has "Tech" for that address. And lastly, they claim be official Asus dealers but are only offering a one year warranty on VGAs, while Asus offers a 3 year warranty even in Pakistan (http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt317/OmMeE/Sandy Bridge/3yearwarrantyasus.jpg), found that add on Pakgamers. So i talk to the staff there and they assure me they are legit Asus and will give me a proper 3 year Asus warranty (not limited) to make me happy.
All this seems very unprofessional to me. Has anyone made any Asus VGA purchases from ShingTech? Do i get a 3 year Asus warranty or not?

Secondary question, how is the Sapphire 6850 as compared to the Asus?

Hi and Welcome to PG

Shingtech is indeed the Official ASUS Distributor in Pakistan there is no question about it
The reason for 1 Year Warranty is basically our Region

There are concerns whether they offer 3 Year as per the picture u posted but no Retailer in Pakistan that carries ASUS Boards is giving 3 Year Warranty which leads us to conclude that the distributor (Shingtech) is not offering it

ASRock available in Pakistan comes under 1 Year Warranty while in other Regions they offer 2 year or 3 year warranty
EVGA at Galaxy offers 1 Year Warranty while in international market they offer 3 Year Warranty

Any brand u choose in Pakistan the Warranty will be less in comparison to International Market

Coming to ur GPU query
Sapphire HD6850 is as good as ASUS HD6850

Now HIS HD6850 is listed at 17kRs at Galaxy and i see no point buying Sapphire for 18kRs
Hell even 17k Rs is too high a price for this GPU but there r limited options currently in the market

Do mention how much ur willing to spend though

Could be or maybe its the Retailers themselves that restrict the Warranty to 1 Year

Need to have some confirmation here as 3 Year Warranty on ASUS Motherboards could be a very decisive factor when buying a motherboard

well i bought it directly from shingtec and they give me 3 years warranty.. i dont knw about other vendors but shingtec does give warranty... but i dont knw that sometimes they give 3 years warranty and some time not.. i got lucky in that time got 3 years warranty but sold it in 3 months :p

Shingtec actually doesnt give a single mobo they want dealer to buy in quantity.. if u go directly to shingtec for a mobo they wont give u unless u lift their balls..

Yea i heard there is a ShingTech outlet in Techno aswell, but the office i went to seems to be the main place in Karachi. They apparently supply to all other KHI outlets.
But that begs the question, what the hell is ShingCare?

Hello Hasan, and thanks! :)

Aye i am aware that most international warranties don't apply in Pakistan so retailers give their own 1 year. But the whole reason i'm going for Asus is that i hear they are officially in Pakistan now, under ShingTech, thus getting the full 3 year Asus warranty. But like i said above, what is ShingCare? Why does it not say ShingTech on their warranty/bills. Should i rather go to the Techno City branch?
Sapphire has a 2 year international warranty, which means after the first year i can still mail them the card (on my own expenses) and they will sort out the problem at their costs.
As for HIS, i have not heard good reviews. I don't mind paying 1 or 1.5k more for a better brand. My budget is around 18k and the 6850 seems to be the best card in that range. There are the Nvidia 550TI versions but people are saying those are very s**t cards.
Next best is 6870 for 21k. Is it worth the little extra? What average increase in FPS should i expect, over the 6850

ziljin No idea what ShingCare is must could be there subsidiary or something
Try the dealer zainu bought the Motherboard from

Now claiming international Warranty is a tricky business as Customs will require Import Documents of the product along with a very high cost
StrikerX can shed some light on this

HIS is a solid brand but its ur choice buy the brand ur satisfied with
GTX550Ti is an Overpriced Card as Galaxy as even HD6790 is ~10% Faster on Average

HD6870 is probably the best buy in 20 - 21k Rs considering how overpriced GTX560 is these days

Here is a comparison on 1920X1080

Hmm a friend of mine send his card back to Inno3D, this was after the initial one year Galaxy warranty. Galaxy sent it back to Inno who repaired it and sent it back to Galaxy, who then gave it back to my friend. Galaxy only charged him for the cost of sending the card to Inno (was 2-3k, don't remember). There was no custom involvement as you say. Nor would i expect there to be. They don't charge for products being sent for repairs as far as i know.

Is there anything i can do with my old XFX 5770? The one that is giving me problems. XFX refuses to repair or replace it. There is no physical damage to the card, so i am guessing it is not a serious issue. Wanted to get it repaired and then sold off. Any advice on that? The problem its giving is that it hangs my PC a minute or two after windows starts, i AM getting display via it, so that's a good sign.

hassan j is right about Shingtech being official Asus dealer in pakistan...

I used to buy only asus motherboards and graphic cards for some time now. Then I saw what was going on in the market considering their warranty.

Depending on what shopkeepers you are buying from..you can get warranty for......

10 months (from some shopkeepers)
1 year (most common here),
3 years.. (only if you demand it and r aware of the fact that asus originally gives u three year warranty.)

When you take the mobo/card for repair...the first things out of their mouths is...this is a oxidation issue...then they look at your face thinking you will just go away and wont bother them with the warranty. If you insist on warranty......they will repair it for you locally 2 times... then say we cant do anymore for you even though they can easily send it back to Asus abroad and claim warranty in the first place...they just don't bother. Even getting them to get the warranty done in the first place is sometimes a hassle.

I have switched to Msi and xfx now because of these local warranty issue with Asus hardware. Even if I am getting a warranty of one year from Msi/Xfx...if and when there r repairs issues I need to know they will be corrected. No bahanas necessary......period.

Ziljin, Singcare and Shingtech are basically one and the same thing, its a tax thing, dont worry about it too much!
Most items carry 10 months to a year warranty but if someone in shing decides to give you a 3 year warranty and mentions it on the invoice, then ur good to go

Aye that is exactly what happened. I asked him why they was not offering me the official 3 year warranty.... he went all blank and called some other guy from their "warranty department". He then told me yea i would get 3 years.
How is Sapphire in this matter?

Thanks man! That was my last problem regarding ShingTech :)
It was only printed on the back of their invoice about some products having 3 year warranties. Should i force him to write it down on the front too?

well you can ask him, if he agrees to write it down on the invoice after conferring with the manager then it will be fine i guess
just make sure the 3 year warranty term is stamped by shing

Why local retailer like you not giving 3 years warranty, they (shingTech or other big distributor) can easily give you three year warranty for customer because you purchase in bulk from them, if you ask for it or put pressure on them, they will easily extend three warranty to retailer like you, for customer.

ro i have old relationship with shingtech they are 1000000000000000% genuine distributor of Asus. And i have tested it myself by writing email directly to Asus Taiwan once my P5K-VM died in last october after 2yrs and 9 months of use and it had 3yrs warranty but shingtech was not giving me proper replacement so i wrote email to asus and i was really amazed by the actions that asus took against shingtech 'THEY GAVE SUCH A BIG DANDA TO SHINGTECH THAT THEY HAD TO GIVE Me NEW MOTHERBOARD TWICE THE PRICE OF P5K-VM"
And about warranty i have good dealing with the person named atif he told me that previously asus used to give us three yrs warranty then they reduced it to one year and now again they have started to give 3yrs warranty on their products so Shingtech will also give three yrs warranty now but i dont know whether it has been actually implemented or not since no deal since last november

Gameson, we ask for 3 years warranty from them all the time, but usually for dealers they only give 10 months warranty unfortunately :(
