I'm just gonna bump this thread instead of making my own.

Is the SAT Student Answer Service useful?

Do it as soon as possible.
I found barrons SAT book useful while preparing for my SAT
Keep a 3 month window before you plan to do SAT for preparation.

^Well it was for OP in general.
Though 3 months is a good time, if you plan to score good in SAT.
Can do it in a month too, but you gota give it your all.

I dont like reading books, especially books which make you learn stuff, however SAT Princeton Review is one book that I enjoyed reading.

I didnt take the SAT, but It proved to be immensely helpful for the Fast test.

Not really a fan of Barron's personally.

Get both and go through PR first.. then Barrons later.

Barrons is hardcore number-crunching, whereas PR has a more laid back approach to the test.

Best book for SAT prep is the Official SAT Study Guide by CollegeBoard themselves. Has 10 full length practice tests that are no different from the actual test in anyway. Best book for practice IMO. If you need help with test-giving tactics refer to Princeton Review (it has 4 practice tests that are also pretty good).

And for a word list, refer to Direct Hits Volume 1 and 2. It's not available in Pakistan, but you can download a scanned copy off the net and print it (it's only ~20 pages). It's the most concise and relevant list I've come across.

Barron's on the other hand, is useless. Don't bother with it.

So most people don't like Barrons. Princeton and Official Guide it is then.

Do you have a link for the word list, Ali250?

Can someone who has been through both Barron's and Princeton list me their pros and cons?
Princeton

Pros:

- Is interesting to read.
- Doesnt make you behave like a mindless number-crunching-zombie.
- Helps you solve shit in the easiest and simplest way possible.
- A lot of tips and tricks.

Cons:

- :lips:

Barrons

Pros:

- Makes you behave like a mindless number-crunching-zombie.
- Boring.
- Not interesting.
- Too serious.

Cons:

- :spammer:

But then again, Princeton is my phuphi ka munda so my opinion might contain a tarka of bias.

Barrons is great imo. It has lots of words for vocabulary and maths revision is comprehensive too. I am using it for the studying/revising part. While the official SAT book is best for the TESTS/practise
