i want e8400 for overclocking. q8400 is not overclockable

E8400 with E0 Stepping will reach 4 GHz with normal vcore
E8400 with C1 Stepping will reach 4 GHz with higher vcore

and your Q8400 will definitely reach 3.7 GHz @ 1.35~1.38 vcore, which is far better than E8400 @ 4 GHz

many new games and future give double FPS with Quads, see Battlefield Bad Company 2 for example

so get E0, if you still want it

your mob. is the issue in obtaining higher overclocking, and not Q8400
On this motherboard you will reach 3.6 GHz with E8400

so, try to update your motherboard to P45 Chipset motherboard
and 3.3~3.4 GHz is more than enough with a Quad for gaming
