Aslamoaleikum guys. I usually use Zong 4G for browing but I was thinking to get PTCL 1mbps connection just for gaming , as I play P2P fighting games , zong having STRICT Nat type does not work at all.
So is there any difference in Pings from 1mbps or 4mbps connection? Or is it the same? Also what about VDSL , does that give better pings? Thanks. :)

PS : I live in Islamabad and unfortunately , Nayatel is not available in my area.

I have played Call of Duty 2 on dial up more then a dacade ago, experience wasn't great but it was possible.
My real broadband connection was 512 Kbps back in 2007 when PTCL first introduced broadband. Their packages were 256 Kbps, 512 Kbps and 1 Mbps back then. I played lots of WoW (World of Warcraft) on that connection for a year when ptcl finally upgraded me to 1 Mbps. Used to do 25 man raid and game was completely playable. My ping used to be around 200 which is normal for any EU servers from Pakistan.

I also used to regularly play TF2 back then on MBL Pakistan server, the server used to be always full back then by Paki's and it was very difficult to get free slot during peak times, my pings were always ~50 - 70 ms.

What the purpose of this all is that its totally possible to play games with a 1 Mbit connection.

VDSL gives you better upload speed which might give a bit better ping in some new games which requires lots of packets sent/received but VDSL is only available for 8 Mbps and above connections and its not available in every area.

Thanks a lot for info man :) Although I'm just worried about one thing , and that's down time and peak hours. Can you give me an idea how much is that in PTCL?
In Zong 4G , I get stable ping and pretty much no downtime. While PTCL users here I see keep saying that it keeps varying , it goes 300+ at night. Stays shit for weeks and keeps disconnecting. Is it true?

No one can tell you about the downtime as it depends on area to area. I have a 20 Mbit VDSL line and its rock solid, no DC or downtime. Before VDSL i was using 12 Mbit ADSL and again no dc porblem. Although to be honest couple of weeks ago i experienced extreme DC problem after the rains and it took PTCL guys a FULL WEEK to fix the problem.

General consensus about PTCL is, if your connection works flawlessly then you are gold but when a problem arises then expect extreme misery as ptcl is too slow to respond to your complaints. The first rule of having a stable ptcl dsl connection is to get in contact with your local lineman and bribe him (500 will do) and see 95% of your problems magically disappear.

And yes PTCL does throttle my bandwith during peak times but i have a 20 Mbit connection, i doubt they will throttle a 1 Mbit connection. I don't play most newer FPS games like Battlefield 1 etc but the games i do play online (Guild Wars 2, BF4 etc) my ping is good almost all of the time.
