PS3 Modchip/ Hack possible???

AOA guys, my friend has a PS3 which he's been using in Saudia but recently brought it in PAK and now he wants to hack/mod it to play downloaded games.

His PS3 model is " CECH-3003B " and software is " 4.60 " , and it's the FAT one not slim one, I went to a few games shops and they said it's not possible to hack/mod this PS3, can someone please confirm this???

Is there no way to hack/mod this PS3???

I have a few questions regarding the matter. I have the PS3 Slim Model No. 2505a. It's currently on the latest firmware. The questions:

1. What sort of hacks are available for the PS3?
2. Which ones allow online play? Any stories about masses getting banned?
3. What's the cost?
4. Do the hacks support all games? Easy to use?

I think that once you go above firmware 3.50 or 4.55 it becomes impossible to software hack a PS3. It could be done with a mod chip and downgrading but for that you'll most likely have to open up the PS3.
