Well if you talk about educational institutes then you'll have to do your entire 4-year bachelor's course which'll award you a degree at the end. Indus Valley, BNU, NCA and Karachi University off the top of my head offer these. But seeing as how you mentioned that you were only willing to invest 6 months or so, I'd suggest getting in touch with Arena Multimedia and asking there. They're your best bet to learn this stuff without having to enroll in a full-fledged academic program.

Arena has plenty of courses for graphic design, multimedia and animation.

Edit: Ahh sorry, didn't read your entire post. Looks like you already checked out Arena. That's the best it gets I'm afraid :s

Hey Radz! if you're already doing formal education then i would suggest you that you concentrate on that more and learn these things via Internet. Internet is best for learning. I am Graphics teacher at Arena Multimedia and by my experience its all depend on individual teacher that how he teach students. There are many institutes offering these courses but only some have good teachers who really teach with heart. You can PM me for further guidance.

The problem is, I don't know, from where to start :s I have checked few tutorials & downloaded Photoshop Blueprint, Need Guidance of a professional teacher to start, thats why i want to learn under a professional trainer.

I have six spare months before I start my master Degree (MBA or Mass Communication) so I would like to dedicate the free time to learn Graphic Design, its not my major but it would help a lot in my field Web development, PM coming to you regarding this. Thanks for Your Input.

Frankly speaking I would like to fund my Regular Masters Education by doing part time Professional Graphic Designer Job/Business.

As far as i know Aptech and Areena are different institutes, Aptech Offers Computer Hardware, Networking & ACCP courses, while Areena Covers Multimedia Courses.

And Yes Areena Multimedia Offers 2 year Diploma in Advance Multimedia, 4 Modules (6 month each module) Its upto you to select a single module or a full diploma. Rs: 35000 for each module.

Module 1: Graphic Design
Module 2: Animation & Video Editing
Module 3: Webdesign
Module 4: Advance 3d Animation

Well.. I'd suggest drop Coral Draw

Just stick to the Adobe Suite. More than enough for you.

Coral is a whole different game which you won't even play

I have Learn From Arena multimedia
and leme tell you it all depends on you teacher can tell you the basic interface of software they dont go advance in it
the best lame excuse they have it is
YEH APKO COURSE me SHAMIL nahi

becoz they also not able to do it so its better to learn by urself then spending that much amount there
as even after completion u have to work hard urself from net to learn new things and stuff
and leme tell you almost every branch dont have professional teachers who personally worked in industry they all are the students of ARENA teaching in arena
so why waste the money or you might be very lucky dude in earth if you find out some good teacher who can spood feed you

If i can do the task mentioned in first post without using CorelDraw, i will definitely skip it.

I understand that they aren't going to teach me everything.. all i want to learn is basic interface of software just to get familiar with software, before I do advance practice.

Question remains the same

"Where can I learn the basic interface of Software, other than Areena Multimedia in reasonable amount"?

It's good that you're so passionate about it, I was too. Let me tell you something, if you don't know anything - do join any campus where you can learn the goodness of graphic designing. I, myself joined Arena. It costed me alot but I learned many valuable things from there.

When I first joined it, I didn't know the tools or applications but later it all grew on me. I learned the difference between good design and bad design, client requirements and many more, their books are pretty good too. The teachers are incredible, in my case they helped me alot. I made many friends there and it was all in a good requirement. Although, I did drop after Semester 1 but that was an experience worth gaining.

Internet is everything but the value of face to face conversations, brainstorming ideas and solving problems (together) cannot be neglected.

100% Agree.

Thanks everyone for help, I will join any random institute for learning the basics of software, F1 & internet tutorial are their for practice. Please name any reliable institute other than Areena Multimedia where i can learn basics, Fees should be under 10,000.
