Dominic Purcell has revealed that Prison Break season 6 is moving forward. The hugely popular drama first launched in 2005 and ran for four seasons, before getting a revival this past spring. The revival was a shortened season, and despite bringing back the main characters Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) for yet another escape attempt, it failed to really succeed.
Despite this, it looks like there may be a sixth season on the table for Prison Break. This is unexpected news, after the season 5 revival wrapped up with some less than phenomenal ratings. However, both Purcell and Miller are enjoying some real popularity at the moment, especially with their roles in the Arrowverse, and this may be enough to give a sixth season of Prison Break a shot.

The news comes via Dominic Purcell’s Instagram page, where he posted an image of the Prison Break title credits with the caption “@prisonbreak#prisonbreak 6. In the works” (see the post below). Although the star has posted nothing else about the upcoming episodes, this seems to be official confirmation that another season will happen.

@prisonbreak #prisonbreak 6. In the works.

It will be interesting to see how Fox brings back Prison Break after the events of the revival, which seemed to wrap things up definitively. The revival finale ‘Behind The Eyes’ saw Jacob (Mark Feuerstein) finally brought to justice for his crimes and Michael a free man, living with Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) and his son, with Lincoln by his side. It’s hard to see where they can go from here, as Michael has no clear reason to break anyone out of prison any more… which is the whole point of Prison Break!Of course, Wentworth Miller has previously suggested a completely off-the-wall set up for a sixth season; with the first page of a script that sees uber-fan Tag capturing Michael and Lincoln and forcing them to re-live the entire first four seasons for his amusement! Even for a show that has gone as off-the-rails as Prison Break, though, this might be taking things too far… and Miller did say that the powers that be rejected his script.Which leaves us with no news as to exactly how Prison Break season 6 will play out. It may not even be ordered to season yet, as Purcell’s post says only that it is ‘in the works’, which could mean anything from being pitched to the network to starting filming soon. If it launches in April of 2018, to mirror the release date of the season 5 revival, though, they better start work on it soon.

We will bring you more details on Prison Break season 6 as they become available.Source: Dominic Purcell

Prison Break Season 6 Officially Confirmed By FOX Plans for Prison Break season 6 have now been officially confirmed by FOX. Fans of the show have been pondering the possibilities of a sixth season for quite some time. First, Wentworth Miller created a stir when he announced his retirement from the Arrowverse, then Dominic Purcell stirred things up even more by indicating that Prison Break season 6 is a go on his Instagram account. Now FOX has formally announced that the show will be continuing on.FOX Entertainment Chief Michael Thorn spoke vaguely yet enthusiastically about the company’s plans for Prison Break during a session at the 2018 Television Critics Association winter press tour. Thorn finally confirmed that, yes, there will be a sixth season of Prison Break, but it won’t be anything like what fans of the show are used to.Related: Wentworth Miller’s Prison Break Season 6 Idea is NutsSpeaking at the 2018 TCA press tour, Thorn told reporters that Prison Break will be back in a “new iteration.” Though no details were given on what the series will look like going forward, Thorn revealed that the studio is “really excited” for Prison Break‘s future, despite the new iteration still being in its “very early stages.”This news comes as a welcome surprise to fans of the series, who waited eight years between the fourth and fifth seasons of Prison Break when the series was revived with a short nine-episode run.Speculation has grown over whether or not the original cast will return or an entirely new one will be put in place. Purcell had previously indicated that he was done working on Prison Break, but his Instagram post suggests otherwise. Others have surmised that Robert Knepper’s sexual assault accusations will prevent him from returning. EW was able to obtain a statement from Fox Chairman and CEO Gary Newman after his appearance at the TCA press tour, in which he said season 6 will not be comprised of an entirely new cast.It’s probably safe to assume the conclusions on Knepper’s assault allegations are correct. Regardless of the legal outcome, Hollywood has been on a major purge of any and all public personalities connected to stories like these. This lends itself to the possibility that both Miller and Purcell will indeed return for season 6, a fact that fans will no doubt welcome with open arms. Until then, Purcell will continue to play Heat Wave in the Arrowverse, while Miller is due to reprise Captain Cold on The Flash (one final time?) within the next couple of months.Prison Break season 6 does not have an official premiere date yet.Source: EW

[h=1]Prison Break Creator Hints at Mahone’s Return in Season 6[/h]

Prepare for William Fichtner to get locked up all over again, now that Paul T. Scheuring is hinting at Alexander Mahone’s Prison Break season 6 return.
As one of FOX’s most inventive shows when it first hit screens back in 2005, Prison Break starred Wentworth Miller as the uber-smart Michael Scofield, intent on breaking his brother out of Death Row. However, while the original premise looked like it might only last for a single season, Prison Break soon escaped Fox River and went on to three more seasons of plot twists and shock character exits. After some eight years off the air, Prison Break returned to a mixed response last year, but it hasn’t stopped season 6 moving forward with the promise of yet more familiar faces coming back for more.

Taking to Twitter, Scheuring confirmed that he has already finished writing the season 6 premiere, but that wasn’t enough for those who want Scofield and Lincoln Burrows back on our screens. When one viewer asked about the chances of Mahone’s return, Scheuring tweeted the following response:
Somewhere between 50-150 percent chance.
— Paul T. Scheuring (@paultscheuring) March 12, 2018

While it isn’t direct confirmation that 61-year-old Fichtner has signed on for the next run of episodes, it is about as close as anyone is going to get until nearer the time when a full cast is announced.
As easily one of the biggest “jump the shark” shows of the 21st Century, season 5 of Prison Break saw the shock resurrection of Scofield after his apparent demise in 2009’s TV movie The Final Break. While original stars like Robert Knepper and Amaury Nolasco signed on for the revival series, the lack of Fichtner’s stoic Mahone seemed like a misstep for the show. Scheuring himself revealed that it simply didn’t make sense to bring everyone back – leaving Mahone as a big question mark – but he appears to have done a U-turn on those sentiments.
Known for his work on movies including The Dark Knight and Elysium, Fichtner’s TV appearances have included Invasion and Empire. However, after joining Prison Break in season 2, the star has become synonymous with playing the troubled FBI agent and early antagonist of the show. While Mahone eventually mellowed to join Scofield and Burrows on the wrong side of the law, there was always a sense that there was more to his story after Prison Break ended. Following on from the season 5 setting of Yemen, could Mahone’s story coincide with the show’s return to American soil? Either way, Scheuring certainly has the vision for where he wants season 6 to go and appears full-steam ahead with writing at the moment.
