PakGamers Discord (maybe shoutbox replacement?)

So how about it ?

We can integrate Discord server into main wordpress page.

It has a realtime PG frontpage embedable version + browser version + mobile app + pc app . Think of it like a much advance shoutbox thing/teamspeak/skype/telegram thing.

You can play requested music, chat with people from pg, go afk and return to chats anytime, use voice/video chats, create channels, directly integrate images, vids, etc. Aloot of features.

This will also allow us to create game specific channels ...for our future plans

I know how holy shoutbox is for a certain number of indivisuals (me included), but discord reallly looks a fantastic alternate with a bunch of different features.

I have create a test channel here, just for trying it out and seeing the community response : Discord / Discord / discord(dot)gg/8HxSSrT
A request would be to give it a fair shot..if it doesnt sound good, we can throw it away

Well...
I like discord and its more modern for communication and guild communities.

but I dont think you can embed it into a website or forum, instead we'd have to hotlink directly to the discord server/room. (The method you've said about wordpress embeding)
While shoutbox is right there infront of us, the server would be 2 clicks away.

Other than that.
I LIKE RUNNING DISCORD SERVERS!


(Though i'd prefer shoutbox to stay the same)

yeah , and I mentioned my reason there too plus a suggestion too ,

having a onsite messenger will be great so we can chat 1on1 + group too if needed but everything going public will not be good like we got forums for discussions and I really saw mature stuff being discussed in shoutbox and forums got trolled , so I think it will be a good idea to turn shoutbox into private chat boxes

You don't have to ditch the public shoutbox for added features of 1on1 and group chat.

it can be html embedded...only inferno can tell us if it can be properly embedded in vb..then it will be somewhat "infront of you".i.eyou will be able to see it on forum.

You might have to pay them for premium features like that. As far as i know, the basic widget only shows number of people online on the server

Yes..I did today..actually that's what inspired me..it looked well setup, and with all the features we are demanding..also the online gaming channel making is epic.

yeah i originally created mine just for friends but then decided why not expand the circle and bring more people who play the same games. If the chat thingy doesnt work, it is at least a good platform to find other locals to play games with

I did a quick search and found that there's no "premium" version available for the widget, furthermore you are right the widget only shows total users online, unfortunately we can't embed whole chatroom, the only option which I can think of at is integrate it in the shoutbox via a button, which opens the PG room in a popup. further, we can also make the room url a bit more easy..something like: chat.pakgamers.com

I would say keep the shoutbox for off topic discussions, and have the discord channel for people who want to play together.

Because if everyone just goes to discord for chatting and there's no shoutbox, there will be less hits on PG website.

In my opinion, this feature, although is good, but it is not required at this stage. Right now PG needs more User activity on the forums, like it used to have in early days.Now, There are less hype threads, there are less discussions, even the most popular threads have 5 to 6 posts per day. So i think THAT needs more attention compared to a shoutbox or improvements in it.
